Sh, on November 6, 2012 at 2:18 AM Posted in Planning 0 28

Just curious.. what are you giving out as your wedding favors? FH and I are kids at heart and love to play around and have fun so we are doing mini gumball machines and hot wheels! Can't wait to order them and have fun.

We did scratch off lottery tickets. I hated the idea of wedding favors until I saw this idea online. I just know as myself from my a guest's point of view, that I would never use or display anything with the couple's name and wedding date on it in my house, and I would throw away (or not even take) most knickknacks. For example, I think those ornaments are GORGEOUS Melissa, however as a guest I would never actually hang that on my own Christmas tree.

We packaged them in shallow jewelry boxes with a label that said "Wishing you wishes from the new Mr. and Mrs." and included the ticket, a 2012 penny and a couple pieces of chocolates (my mom insisted on the chocolates). We chose to do the BINGO board scratch offs because those actually take a while to play instead of others where you are done in 2.5 seconds. We had many small $2-4 winners. Our biggest winner was $20 I believe. Our guests loved them (even if they didn't win).

MrsO, that was such a cute idea! I love the way you packaged them as well!!

We are planning on having a photo station, so that's kind of a big part of the favor. You can do as many photos as you want, with whoever you want, however you want (silly, formal, etc.) All the photo station pictures are posted online the next day and everyone is allowed to download and keep/print/post/whatever you want with their pictures.

Since our wedding is over Veteran's Day weekend, we are also planning on tying that in our favor. In place of some kind of take home favor, we will be making a donation to a charity benefiting veterans. I think our friends and family, which include many veterans, will like this and appreciate it more.

Don't have a pic yet, but my FH and I are creating tins of our own BBQ rub. We love to cook, and smoking ribs, turkey, etc. is one of our specialties. Ingredients will include herbs with "wedding-type" significance, such as rosemary for faithfulness, plus some of our other favorites.

We passed out live orchid stems and also had kusudama flowers at each place setting. Both were a big hit!

We did a photo booth and each guest got a photo strip or 20 with a bookmark protector. For us these were memories they could have forever instead of some candy or bubbles.

We made raspberry jam this past season, and hand-wrote a thank you tag, tied it on with twine....

I love those favors! Mine will be something like this, hot cocoa with peppermint and marshmallows in mason jars! And the fabric on top will match the linen napkins.

@ Future Mrs Travers - That is what we are doing too!!!!! But We are filling them with hershey kisses. Then we will put them in a organza bag with a tag that says " Hugs and Kisses from the new Mr. and Mrs.". I think it is cute because the koozie hugs your drink and then the kisses. LOL ;P
