Semi-Destination Wedding on a Sunday

Wishfull_Heart, on March 30, 2010 at 11:40 AM Posted in Planning 0 4

Is it completely impossible?

We live in Sacramento, our families live near Redding, and we're thinking of getting married in Tahoe. It will be a bit of a drive for them, for us though its only about an hour. So its almost like a destination wedding...Having the wedding on a Sunday would save us money (**** on food) and make my dream venue possible -but is it asking too much of guests?

I think, beaing a Norcal native too (HI!) that your guests would have no problem with that. I would make it early in the day Sunday though, so that they have time to drive home. It's really not a bad drive, and you have lots of time to let them know about it. Go for it!

If it isn't a horrible drive, I'd say go for it, and you'll be saving a ton of money. As long as it isn't a super late wedding, you should be okay, just be aware that there might be quite a few guests unable to make it.

NAH! My wedding will be on a sunday, aboard a boat in the San Francisco bay in the middle of march of 2011. LOL.

People who want to be there will be there. I'll have tons of people invited from TX, but I know most of them won't show. People from CA will probably be more up for it since it's only about an hour-2 hr. drive for some Smiley smile

Girl, it's your day to make your dream come true... go for it!

I think it's reasonable as long as, as noted, you keep the ceremony and reception relatively early on Sunday. That's what we're doing with our engagement party to make it accessible to out of town guests.
