Real or Fake Glasses?

jaime, on February 23, 2012 at 10:10 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 15

I just found out today, that my venue does not include drinkware for the supper. I have to buy wine glasses and water goblets..ugh!! This is unexpected cost, considering the wedding is in 25 days!! Should I buy real glass or buy pastic wine glasses and water goblets?

There are some nice looking plastic glasses that you would never be able to tell were plastic. I'd look into those before you would consider buying anything.

Have you looked into possibly renting them out from a local vendor? That might save you time and money!

Wanted to add in the website: http://www.partyatlewis.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=CTGY&Store_Code=partyatlewis&Category_Code=TUMBLERS We always use this stuff when my parents have big holiday dinners at their house.

You can order from DollarTree Im not big on the fake ones. You can also ask the venue if you let them keep them if they would take money off your tab

Is renting stemware an option for you? If you are unable to rent them I'd try Ikea (if there's one near you) I purchased 100 champagne flutes over the holidays for less than $75.

Unless you find plastic stemware that resembles glass I would not use plastic IMO.

I just checked the site that Kimi sent you, they have cute plastic glasses BUT...they average out to about $1 each so you would be best ordering glass stemware from the Dollar tree for $1 each.

If you're in a serious time crunch, and renting isnt an option, for price purposes or whatever the case may be... I KNOW that Party City has those little clear plastic glasses good for alcohol really. As for water glass, idk.

Check recycled brides or the other used wedding sites, I usually see some used glassware on there.

I live in Canada, and in a small town. We have a City but its 3.5 hours away. There is no place to rent them or a dollartree. I am going to town today and going to price wine glasses, at walmart, zellers, dollar store (which i think is the same as a dollartree). I am hoping to find what I am looking for! I will be buying glass, like most of you have suggested!

I agree with Kim, we got all our glassware from Dollar Tree. Pretty, cheap, and we use them at home daily!

I checked out the dollartree and they dont ship to canada. I went to my local zellers, and found wine glasses. They had a sale on, I bought 9 boxes of 12 wine glasses for 70.00. So I got each wine glass for .65 cents each. Now its onto the water goblets. Thanks Everyones!!!!
