Price Per Plate??

How much is your food for the reception per plate? We are having a buffet style with 4 entree options. Chicken, beef, fish, and vegetarian. It comes out to $19.95 a plate. I was just curious if that is a decent price or not.

Our food was $39.95, which included four entrees, two vegetables, a starch, a salad, and rolls. We upgraded the salad for a few bucks I think so maybe a little more than that per plate. Totally worth it to us because they also work their system a little different than many buffets. Many get the total number and then approximate how many will want each entree and make that much. With ours, they'll keep making food until everyone is done ... so technically everyone could have a full serving (or two) of everything and there will still be enough.

Once you add in the bar cost, the second meal (bar food at the end of the night), soda and coffee service, etc, our total per person is about $75.

We had buffet with beef, chicken, pasta, cheesy potatoes, veggies, salad and a few other things.

    $65 pp

Open bar (four types of bottled beer, call brand liquor)

    $27pp

Total was $92pp in Deep Creek Lake, MD

Plus we had an extension of 2 hours on bar and paid on consumption for that.

NOTE: We did not have to pay for linens, chair covers, set up, tear down, silverware, plates and all that jazz. The pp cost covered all that. Only additional was paying the bartenders ($50 each I think) and ceremony fee.

Our food is $75/person, that includes 6 passed appetizers, plated dinner, 2 sides, salad, bread, drinks, champagne toast, and open bar.

This is for a Saturday night in Ohio.

You can't compare food this way. There are so many variables; service, quality of food, elegance of the place, etc.

But i can tell you that even if the dumped it at the doorway, it's a good price.

I'm paying $100/person. In Long Island, NY, where prices can be a bit higher. My price per person isn't just for food. My venue doesn't have a rental fee. The price per person includes everything - entire ceremony with 150 seats, huge cocktail hour with an incredible amount of food, full open bar for the entire event (cocktail hour and reception), separate food for me, FH and BP in the bridal suite, chair covers, linens, tableware, 4 course meal with 5 entree option, 4 tier wedding cake, Viennese dessert hour. I just have to guarantee 120 people. I'll have about 150.

This is on a Saturday night, ceremony to start at 6:30, cocktails at 7 and reception for 8pm to 1am.

It really depends on what you are doing. Prices have a very wide range.

For me it was $75 pp, but that included the venue rental cost, linens from the venue, orderves, a 4 course meal and desserts later on, an open bar, plus set up and take down by the venue. So for me it was totally worth it.

We booked an all-inclusive venue so we're paying a flat $12k for the venue, DJ, cake, catering, bar, florist, etc. (everything but the photog since we have our own). In that price we have a $32 catering allowance per person (for up to 100 people) and we can go through their menu and pick out as many items as we want as long as the total is less than/equal to $32pp. Kind of neat because we could do a ton of hor d'eourves, a light or heavy menu with sides or even extra dessert. And I believe our alcohol prices are either $15 or $18 pp (I don't remember which).

My reception is cake and drink. either the cake will be DIY, or we'll get a 'occasion cake' from a local bakery that does last minute orders.

in both cases it works out to being about 1-2 dollars a head. yeah, I'm cheap Smiley smile

We are at $47 per person, this includes tax and gratuity. There will be three passed appetizers, a buffet which includes salad, choice of two entrees, starch, vegetable, rolls/butter, coffee, iced tea/lemonade, beer, wine and sodas. Also includes a champagne toast-we are not doing champagne but substituting a pink moscato. Even though we aren't doing our cake thru them, they will still cut and serve it for this price. The price also includes the caterer bringing all of the china/flatware/glassware/table linens/chair covers/sashes and cleaning up. We rented a venue on the water but it was just the venue so we had to outsource for everything. We opted for the one stop shop with the caterer Smiley winking

$10/person for buffet style dinner and $5/child. Haven't calculated our bar costs yet but it will be open bar with beer and wine and maybe a signature drink.

Ours is $7.25 a person for Italian buffet. Also bringing in all our own alcohol and having open bar. My mom can get all the booze through the liquor distributor so for example vodka was $4 a bottle.

We are doing a casual buffet. Salad, pasta, and breadsticks. Doesn't include any drinks, napkins, silverware, or plates. $4.77 pp. including taxes. This is to pick up the food from the restaurant that happens to be very close to my reception venue, so no service either. We may decide to have it delivered depending on if the delivery charge is worth it.

For 200 people the total cost inc taxes is $954. I'm estimating only 150 will show up, but it will be worth having extra food just in case.

Wow. This is really interesting! We are having around 150 guests and are paying around $1600 for full service buffet, so around $10/person. We are doing our own appetizers, dessert alcoholic beverages (probably just wine and beer/cider. Still, even if we're paying $15 for apps/food/drinks/dessert I think we're doing pretty well! And the portions are huge, so it will be a LOT of food!

We are having veal parmesan, chicken french, tortellini pomodoro, roasted potatoes/veggies, green 'n' beans, meatballs, and salad Smiley smile

I am in upstate New York Smiley smile

We are paying 12.95 for the food per person...it's a buffet. It's another 1 dollar per person for silverware. We were fortunate enough to find a place that does not upcharge for a wedding (we're not having the reception at a venue. We're having it in her brother's backyard), We are providing our own alcohol and bartenders.

Great price! Ours is $24/plate just south of Washington, DC. That includes: buffet dinner, soft drinks/mixers, and apps. Our bar stuff is separate since we were able to buy our own!
