I all sent them an individualized card a month after we were engaged.

No changes and no huge drama so far, thank goodness.

    5 girls

I sent my FSIL one only because she invited herself into being my bm. Fine, sure, whatever. She's been absolutely no help to me, but I've learned to not to involve her in anything anyway.

I asked my girls pretty soon after I was engaged. But they are stand up women that I had no issues with in the past, so I expected none going into wedding planning. I'm also one that didn't expect them to do a whole lot but was very happy that they offered, helped, etc.

Made no changes, had no need to. There were three girls. No regrets, I can't wait to share more important moments with these ladies.

We got engaged on Xmas 2012, I asked the girls by making them a personalized necklace and said "Couldn't say I DO without you, Will you be my Bridesmaid/Maid of Honor" I had 4. One get pregnant shortly after saying yes to me, and she'll be too pregnant to be on a plane. I later just asked my brother to be my man of honor, so he will stand on my side. My bridesmaids won't be much help because they don't live near me except my FSIL, so the groomsmens gf's are going to be my "honorary bridesmaids" since they want to help in any way they can, and I only met one of them last month, and the other for almost a year so because I didn't know them that long, I wasn't really comfortable with them being apart of the actual bridal party. But since they will be helping I will be giving them gifts as well. Plus they haven't been with the groomsmen for longer than 3 years so you never know how long they are going to last, and I probably wouldn't be friends with them if it weren't for the guys..

Think of who you couldn't imagine not standing there with you, or taking pictures. I feel some people just add girls to make things even on both sides... Don't care about that or what other people will think. My brother is on my side because it would just be weird him being opposite of me and he's my best friend..

-How long before the wedding did you ask your bridal party?

    16 months

-How soon after you were engaged did you ask your bridal party?

10 months after engagement (long engagement)

-Have you had any changes to the numbers in your bridal party since then?

    No

-Number of people in bridal party?

1 MOH (my best friend) 3 bridesmaids (sister and 2 other close friends) 1 jr bridesmaid (cousin) 1 flower girl (cousin)

-Any regrets on your bridal party members?

YES! My MOH is going nuts (Maid of Honor-zilla) and one of my BMs broke up with her boyfriend (FH's BM) and now is being a brat about having to do ANYTHING that includes him. I still want these girls in my wedding, I just wished I'd waited a little longer to ask them, and avoid the drama for a little bit.

I asked my girls probably about a year beforehand, maybe a little before. Depends on the person, for example my sister knew she would be my MOH so asking her was formality that probably happened on the same day I got engaged.

I have 6 people in my bridal party. There haven't been any changes, and I don't have any major 'keep me up at night' regrets, but now I wish I'd kept it a little smaller. C'est la vie.

I asked my girls "officially" (cute little package - shirt, card w/note) about 2 weeks after we got engaged. I felt the sooner the better. We will get married 9 months to the day after getting engaged.

We have 4 guys and 4 girls + 2 ring bearers & 1 flower girl. No changes to the bridal party since asking, and we have absolutely no regrets. I'm so glad I asked the girls I did, they've all been so wonderful. FH's friends are so excited for him - one guy said "hell yeah!" when he was asked to be a GM Smiley smile

I initially would've liked to have had only 3 BMs/3 GM, but there was 1 guy FH really wanted to include, so I chose a girlfriend that seemed the best for a 4th, and wow was I right. She's great, and I'm glad to have her. She apparently got all weepy when she read the note I wrote her (her hubby spilled that one :p).

So.. I didn't know anything about weddings when I got engaged two years ago and I thought your sisters were automatically bridesmaids if you had any. So I didn't ask and one of them just assumed she was right away but I didn't realize the other was waiting for me to ask and my mom had to tell me that she was really sad that I wanted one sister to be a bridesmaid and not the other. Oops! I apologized and asked her when the wedding was still over two years away though

-How soon after you were engaged did you ask your bridal party? Within a week of getting engaged for my BM.

-Have you had any changes to the numbers in your bridal party since then? I added a BM.

-Number of people in bridal party? 7 BM 6 GM

-Any regrets on your bridal party members? Were there people you should have asked or people you regret asking? I became closer with one of my BMs and asked her. My regret is not waiting to ask them. I got too excited. If you are having a 2 1/2 year engagement, wait.

-It was about a year before our wedding to round it out but I asked my sisters about 15 months out.

-1 month to ask my sisters and then 4 months to ask my other girls and his side.

    -stayed the same!

    -5 on each side

-No regrets! They all did what we asked which was just show up lol. We didnt put any pressure. And they still planned all the parties and were great about everything else!

We asked FH's brother to be an usher. 4 months later we found out from FMIL that he really didn't want to do it. So we quickly asked his cousin. That was knida weird.

5 total in our wedding party.

3 BMs (No MOHs) asked within a month or two of engagement over a year out, 2 groomsmen asked 6-8 months before wedding.

My only regret is that I wished I asked another friend of mine who is a man but a really important friend to me. He lives 3,000 miles away, I still don't know if he'd be able to make it.

I've considered asking FI if he would appreciate having him stand to his side (even though he should be on my side) but at this moment, I don't want to seem last minute.

I asked my MOH (my best friend since we were 5) within like 3 days of getting engaged, asked my other bridesmaids I think 2 months after getting engaged (about 15 months before the wedding)- BUT I didn't even have to think about who I would ask.

We actually added an additional groomsmen and bridesmaid about 2 months after we initially asked people. (FH decided he really wanted his other friend to be a GM, which was fine with me because I had wanted my cousin's fiance, they've been together 7 years and I'm SUPER close to her, to be in it also).

We have 8 groomsmen and 8 bridesmaids (yikes!)

I have no regrets on my side, my girls have all been fantastic (but like Reenski, I never did/do expect much out of them, so I can't complain). FH's had drama on his side (who would have thought the guys would be the drama), but all is okay now!

    I didn't ask.

My best friend (who happens to be FH sister) said as soon as we made the engagement official and said we were going to set a date, that she better be my MOH. So she was 'picked' before a date was set.

    No changes and no regrets

Just a MOH and. best man

Asked the 1st BM 2 years out & asked the last BM a year & 3 months prior to the wedding.

After we were engaged, 6 months after & finished asking the last BM around 13 months.

I originally wanted 2 girls, maybe 3 tops, but because of my FH's decisions I ended up with 6, then came 7 & 8 which is where I'll stay. FH has 4 GM, maybe 5, just asked one about 3 weeks ago. Not sure if he'll ask anyone else. He has 2 others he has been thinking about. Either way we will have uneven sides & I am okay with that. I told him he needs to have all guys asked before 12 months out. He has 2 months.

10 in the BP & 17 in the WP, if nothing changes with GM.

Nope no regrets. So far all is good.
