Bridal Letter

First we’d like to thank you all for your love and support. It’s because of this that, Vinny and I, are where we are at in our life and relationship. You all are very special to us and we feel truly blessed that you will be part of our special day. We can not believe how fast the time has gone. So much to do in such little time.Thank You!

Colors of the Day

The colors we decided on going with will be Purple, Gold, & Ivory. We decided we wanted the theme of simple/modern elegance.

Very nice... Looks better, I think this is a great idea. Another thing I might change:

"I was going with having you all decide on different dresses, but the more I look around, I’d rather the same dress on each. If you have issues about the dress, please contact me.

Satin Strapless Ball Gown with Sweetheart Neckline Style 84066

    Color: Regency (purple color) "

I would just say "All girls will have the same dress, David's Bridal Satin blah blah blah. It is a style that should be flattering and pretty on everyone!". They don't need the reasons for your decisions, that's too much information Smiley smile

I think its great you did this, just know depending on how your bridal party i would send it out initially and many follow up emails or letters closer to the date.

I think that if you are so annoyed by tattoos maybe you shouldnt ask that girl to be a BM and seems you want everyone to be the exact same down to nails and shoes but your asking tattooed BM to where something to cover seems kind of out there.

I do think its great that your getting it all out in writing Im going to have dinner with my girls and grooms men so we can lay out time line and day of day before activities.

I saw you've changed the DB store paragraph to not mention money issues and babies. Which is good, but I'd like to point out, if you are asking them to pay for their dresses, hair, makeup, shoes, etc. They should at least get a say in a price point, style, etc. I'd be very miffed if someone expected me to pay for a dress or shoes that I didn't feel comforable in or couldn't walk in the shoes, then be stuck with it all.
I don't think you should dictate too much on the hair, make up and nails. I honestly didn't care what my BM & MOH did, as long as it reflected the time and feel of the wedding IE: No dark, clubbing make up for a 3 PM ceremony. I'd rather have my ladies comfortable and happy in the wedding attire, make up, accesories etc. Then visably uncomfortable which in turn, ends up in the photos.
I also didn't ask them to cover up tattoos or take out piercings. Trying to cover it up draws more attention than having it out in the open.

I love your revised letter. I love it! It won't likely rub anyone the wrong way and you aren't coming across as a (you know people love to throw around this word when someone is getting married! I've been called it a few times myself) "bridezilla". I totally say go with it! Smiley smile

I totally agree with FMS! Asking them to cover up their tattoos would definitely rub me the wrong way. I wouldn't dictacte much on their shoes, hair and makeup, unless you are paying for it. But you know your bridal party better, and they might not get offended.

Personally, I think if you're going to force your BM's to be identical little dollies, then you need to pay for it. If there isn't room in the budget, then you need to just let them choose their own hair, makeup and nails. Otherwise it's what state governments call an "unfunded mandate," which just ticks everyone off.

I think you did great with the revisions. its great that you are telling them in advance. it all depends on how well you know your BMs. mine are my sisters and bff and so they had no problem in me asking them to wear the same shoes and hair styles. for some people they might take it the wrong way.

I would never ask a "friend" to cover up their tattoos or piercings. They had them before the wedding they'll have them afterwards. Unless they are incredibly obscene they should be left visible that is THEIR choice to have. Just ask the photographer to position them a certain way so they don't show. I'd be offended if someone ask me to cover up my tattoos for a wedding. They asked ME to be in the wedding. They knew I had the ink to begin with.

My personal feeling is if you are asking these women to foot the bill (not so much the men; those are rentals....) for dresses, shoes, possibly makeup and hair, they should have a little wiggle room in what they pick. It's a rare group of four or five women who look great in the same dress and shoes, and even at DB, it's a significant expense when added to all the other expected expenses that come along with being in the bridal party. Having them happy with how they look and comfortable on their feet is a priceless gift from you to them.

Lots of my bridal parties choose different dresses in the same color (not WILDLY different) and they look great. It's cohesive in the photos, and they can buy dresses that are flattering to their bodies; that's huge, especially with all those pix. Not everyone looks good in a strapless dress....

As far as the nails, makeup, hair.....a little too constrictive.

I guess if I'd gotten the letter, I'da bowed out gracefully.

Very true Nicci, I love my gals, piercings, tattoos and all. My MOH has embedded piercings going down her spine and ordered rhinestone ones for the wedding. Unfortantely, they never made it in time Smiley sad I love her they way she is, 20-something piercings, what ever colored hair and what ever colored nails, and all.

    Rock on, Celia! Smiley smile

If I got an email with this much detail and a list of demands this early in the process, I would worry that the bride was going to go off the rails sooner rather than later.

I'm sorry, but I agree with Celia. I have 4 tattoos, and I wear them with pride. They are part of me, and they're part of your BM as well.

I think if you want them all wearing shawls to complete the uniform look, then maybe purchase the shawls for them as gifts. Same thing goes for anything speciflc you want them to do - nails, toes, hair. If you want it done a special way, then you should expect to foot the bill for that.

Im sorry girls if you dont like that i dont want tattoo's. Its my personal prefrence. My one girlfirned has MS B!TCH ON HER BACK.. now you tell me if you want that seen for photos or the ceremony. Shes like a sister 2 me and knws i hate her tattoo anyway. So I'm just gana tell her alone. So agreed on that.

We're having a destination wedding, so i need to know what the girls want to do. If they want makeup and hair done cuz then I got to find someone to do it. But one of my bridemaid "MS B!TCH" is a hair artist. So I need to know where everyone stands on it. They all knew coming in what I was looking for. And the expence and all agreed to it. If they want to not be part of the wedding I would understand. Its hard times right now. But I dont ask for much. Just lil things and girls can do neutral makeup I dont see how thats an expence.

Sry for typos writing quick b4 my boss walks back in

The revised letter is a lot better. I personally don't see anything wrong with asking your BM to cover tattoos and piercings. If it doesn't fit your vision for your day, they should understand. The main thing is the delivery of your message. I would take them out to lunch or for cocktails and explain your vision before sending the letter.

I agree with you Christina H. Asking your BMs to have natrual make-up isn't an expence. If they wear make-up then they should all ready have natrual/neutral colors. If they don't wear make-up then it shouldn't be a problem. As for the nail polish thing. I wouldn't go out and get a full set with french tips, nor do I think that your BMs should have to, but I'd deffinatly go make a point of cleaning up my nails and stuff. As for the covering the tattoo, I wouldn't want MS B!TCH scrolled someones back in my wedding photos ten years from then, so I agree with you on that. Perhaps though I wouldn't include it in the letter and just talk to that person privatly. As well as talk to the photographer. There is a way to stage that so you don't see the tattoo in the pictures. Good luck =]
