Wedding details
Seven years ago, a girl named Rebecca met a boy named Gil... Gil and I met in historic Savannah, GA. I was there working for the Girl Scout Council of Savannah, Georgia, and Gil had just gotten his first big job after graduating from Georgia Southern University. His company, Comdoc, were the contracted computer network administrators for the Girl Scout Council where I worked, and in his first month on the job Gil was pegged to come in and deal with some "issues" we were having with emails. Actually, I worked with a group of distinguished old-world Savannah ladies who were receiving some pretty pornographic emails due to a virus on the e-mail server. Gil was the 4th tech the company had sent to deal with the problem, and the ladies were quite irritated about the situation by this point. Gil entered the old historic building and proceeded to talk to the Vice President about the issue. He made his way around the office, dealing mostly with clearing the e-mails off of the VP's computers first. Working in a small office (glorified broom closet with a window), I saw him walk by, and shouted out around the corner "Hey, can you come help me get this porn off of my computer??" Gil says I wasn't quite that eloquent but that's how I remember it. Because he's awesome, he was able to fix all of the computers and clear the virus off of the server. From that point we dated casually, but with no serious commitment I accepted a job with the US Navy at Great Lakes Naval Station near Chicago, Illinois. Gil continued to work at Comdoc and came to visit me once up in the cold Midwest. After being there about a year and talking to Gil daily on the phone, I had the opportunity to move to Italy, a chance I couldn't pass up. During my time in Italy over the next 3+ years, Gil worked at Comdoc and then at a small company called Speros, and then back at Comdoc, finally ending up at his current job with Schneider Logistics as the Regional IT Manager. My first Christmas back in 2007, he came to Tennessee to visit me at my mother's place and meet my family. At that point I started thinking what am I doing?! I think that he had the same epiphany, hey why aren't we together?? Leaving to go back to Italy was very hard and over the next 2 years we talked on the phone every day, utilized Skype, email, and facebook, saw each other every few months, and watched our love grow from afar. He came to visit me in February 2009 for a romantic tour of Italy, and I started looking for a job back in the south Georgia area shortly after that. In November of 2009, I found a great job working for the Army as a Training Coordinator, and in January moved back to Savannah to be with Gil. He continues to be satisfied with his work for Schneider and we live in our very first house in Pooler, Georgia with our puppy Josie. PHEW... but that's not the end : ) Gil proposed to me two days before Thanksgiving 2010 on the Tybee Island pier, and now we are headed to wedded bliss... or something like it!

Now we can actually say if we'd buy a wedding gown like this! (at least for those of us who have yet to see the movie) I wouldn't, b/c it looks VERY unforgiving. But it's a very gorgeous gown!
So I remember seeing a fur baby post a long time ago on WW but at the time I didn't have one. Now that I do, I want to share her cuteness!! Lemme see your cutie pies! Here is Maple:

2499 days agoSo went for a cake tasting today and worked out a design I love as well as FH's grooms cake that he loves. I had so underestimated the pricing! FH's grooms cake feeds 50, sheet cake, buttercream icing with fondant design (flat) with FH's alma mater...
