Planning for 2021 during Covid-19

Kasey, on April 7, 2020 at 1:01 PM Posted in Community Conversations 0 4
Hi everyone, so I got engaged about a month ago and have been in the beginning stages of planning for a spring 2021 wedding, but with everything in California being closed due to the pandemic, I find I’m at a standstill in the planning process but don’t want all of this time to go to waste! I can’t tour venues or go dress shopping, and without a venue and a date, I’m not really sure what I CAN work on planning right now since a lot of things depend on venue and date. Does anyone have any ideas or tips on what I can do to plan in these early stages so that I can make the most of this newfound free time I have and not let months of planning time go to waste? Thanks!!

Figuring out how what you want, looks, etc. maybe buy things off amazon or Etsy so money isn’t spent all now. Start ordering center pieces or bridal party gifts? Get quotes I’m sure you can still call some business. So once things are normal your ready to book!

Hi Kasey, I’m in a similar boat planning my 2021 wedding. I’m in NYC and we luckily were able to visit our top venues up to the week before the shutdown. We recently put a deposit and secured a date since we know a lot of 2020 brides are postponing to next year as well, I think it’s important for you to narrow down your top venues. As far as other planning , we’ve decided on our general aesthetic and made a guest list which enabled us to talk to invitation makers and get price quotes for the # we need. I’ve researched photographers and have availability and quotes from them as well. In terms of my dress I’ve only been able to save images of what I’ve liked and researched boutiques that carry designers , making a list of stores to visit once everything is up and running again. We brainstorm about smaller details like guest books, wedding favors, first dance songs etc. Overall this has kept us busy , positive and ready to hit the ground running when we can.

Research, research, research!! We always had a tight budget, so once I discovered how much wedding stuff costs, I really started researching every category of vendors very carefully, and making notes, sending emails, asking questions, so I could really narrow down the choices to just a couple in each category that were within budget. Then later we scheduled venue tours and vendor meetings in person.

So, if you haven't started gathering information yet, there's a ton of stuff out there. It takes some time to go through it all.

Also, you can work on your guest list with FH. That can take some time as well, depending on how many guests you can afford to host vs. how many family and friends you have. There's plenty you can do from home!!
