Non-traditional Bachelorette Party Ideas?

Jessica, on April 13, 2012 at 1:03 PM Posted in Planning 0 30

Ok ladies, here is my little issue... I feel like I am WAY past the point in my life where bar-hopping is fun and I have no interest in going to a strip club. Also, I have yet to go to a spa where my skin didnt totally freak out afterwards (so no spa!)

I need some different bachelorette party ideas to toss at my girls. I really, really wanted to take pole-dancing lessons with them but my MOH is being difficult.

What did you do/have heard of people doing?

One of my BMs was the same way when she got married. We ended up going to a dinner theatre production - which was fun because there was a lot of audience participation.

We're going wine tasting. But I've attended a b-party weekend at Disneyland. Or you could go to a comedy club, or some sort of show. The most recent b-party I went to was a mellow slumber party. We played a few games to embarrass the bride, hung out and watched movies. You could also just go to a nice dinner somewhere.

We went to a nice dinner, then to an improv comedy club. I didn't wear a "Bachelorette" sash or anything indicating I was a bride. I didn't want that attention on me. Smiley smile We had a great time, and it was very low-key - exactly what I wanted.

I feel the same way, I just don't really care for the typical "girls night out" where we all just dress up in short skirts, go to a bar and take Facebook photos of us drinking... Not really my thing.

I personally want to go to some theme park (we have Wild Waves here that has water rides as well as rollercoasters) and then out to a musical club (or piano bar) but it's in my girls' hands so maybe we'll just do that on the side for the heck of it. I love roller coasters and it's been too long Smiley smile Plus not all of my girls are close to eachother, so it'd be nice to be doing something that doesn't require a lot of conversation.. It's a little off the wall, but I think it's a fantastic idea.

I feel the same way...I am 36 and not into the bar thing anymore. Thought about asking my girls if they want to go an amusement park for the day and then get a room there and have fun after. One of my BM mentioned getting a suite at hotel and just chilling there for the night. We could play board games and drink a little and not have to worry about getting a DD. People could also come and go as they please and not worry about the loud music.

Around my area these paint and wine places keep popping up. Its BYOB and you learn to paint. Seemed kinda cool to me. I second the board game night idea too. We've done a girl's night like that before, everyone bring a board game and a bottle of wine.

If you want to try pole dancing, then you should! you're the bride, after all! i teach at a pole studio in CT, and we host bachelorette parties all the time. Even the people that are skeptical walking in, have a great time! Be clear to your MOH about what you want and what you don't want. My SIL told her sister (MOH) what she wanted to do, and her sister ignored her. She ended up having an ok time, but it should have been a BLAST! Pole parties are a great way to either kick off, or end your night! it's a workout (the best one ever, i might add. lol!) , though, so keep that in mind. Let your MOH know that pole dancing does not mean strippers, or anything of that nature...

You could do what some of the other women suggested; start with a wine tour and wrap up the night poling away and enjoying some new wine afterwards Smiley winking

@Jacki- I like the wine and pole-dancing idea even more...

@Katie- Since my MOH said no to pole-dancing, I think she would kill the Pure Romance idea as well.

    Thanks ladies.

I think going to WI Dells go-karting would also be fun. I am not much of a Six Flags kinda girl but they might be into that. My sisters and BFFs are polar opposites so trying to keep the peace has been rather interesting!

In my area at least, there are companies that come and set up "casino nights", if that would interest you. They supply the games (blackjack, roulette, etc), cards, dealers, etc. Also I have seen mixologists come over and teach you about different drinks. Done at your home, can enjoy a few bevs and not worry about bar hopping.

I wanted to try pole dancing classes too, but none of my girlfriends really wanted to. Instead we are going out for dinner, and then to a dueling piano bar. Hopefully it will be a blast.
