I'm going to call the former friend 'Daisy' so you can keep up. Me and Daisy have been friends for 6 years. She recently reunited with a previous lover and they started dating. She randomly announced that they were getting married only after dating for literally 6 weeks. She asked me to be her maid of honor. I gladly accepted the honor and because they planned to get married in December (she announced it in August) I immediately started planning her Bridal shower! Her guest list went from 20 to 85 people. I ordered a catering company, tables and chairs rental, paid for floral arrangements for the centerpieces, hired a photographer and bought all the champagne and decoration. In October she called me asking if I could pick her up she was stranded. I went to get her and while waiting at the light, I saw a man in a suit and a woman in a long flowy white gown crossing the street. They went to the courthouse to get married! So they get in the car, continued in comment section

    Wtf nolalishak

contrary to popular belief, the internet is NOT an anonymous place. Anything you say can be traced back to you, no matter how well you think you've hidden your private information.

I seriously urge all of you who are threatening violence against this person (or encouraging the OP to threaten violence) to remember that.

I didn't read the comments. I have zero problem with couples getting married before and calling the reception, whenever, what ever they want, but this was 100% classless on her part.

Still, I don't think you can sue her.

Seriously the suing comments are hilarious. No way that would be worth your time. Judge Judy however would be awesome.

OP - these other bridesmaids, what was their role? How has this woman completely ghosted? This smells funny.

Also, did she have her fake party in December or nah?

At this point you'd be better off letting it go and having this amazing (true?) story to share for eternity.

    Well...this took an unfortunate turn.

    Death threats and skepticism.

WOW!!! I'm stunned right now. Take her to small claims to get your money back. I'm so sorry this happened to you! (On second thought..there was no contract, you weren't hired to provide a service, I don't think small claims would do anything). Ugh, you should have called everyone you knew to party, why let the food and drink go to waste. : /

The more you update, the more I think you are holding details back.

Don't waste another penny on that mess. And yes, let it go!

Yeah I don't know on what planet adults think it's okay to resolve issues with physical violence.

"Daisy" is a selfish lying cunt.

I don't think you can sue her, which is too bad, but I'd absolutely blast her to anyone who knows her.

Since I finally caught up with all the comments, all the questions y'all are asking are great. This DOES seem kind of fishy? I'm not sure. I feel like there's no way Daisy blocked EVERYONE you know on Facebook. Someone had to have attended their "fake wedding" in December and posted pictures or at least a status update about it.

OP, DO NOT resort to violence. You're obviously fixated on this because you said your FH is tired of hearing about it (and it happened months ago). Whatever legal recourse you may have, it will be null and void if you resort to self help and "kick her ass" or assault her in any way. And, while I didn't see the post that suggested death, I think we should all come back to earth and realize that we're talking about something bad, but not something so hideously awful that will alter the OPs life as she knows it. So, let's take it down a notch.

You've taken us into this story, so I'm going to ask -- what exactly did those shower/"celebration of the couple" invitations say? Were they online invitations, or printed shower invitations that you altered in some obvious way? That's what caused this thing, and what she did -- because it was massive, drastic, and designed to make you pay for something -- is mind boggling. Who did you speak to about their marriage, and what did you say? You owe us that much.

Secondly, I know you talked to the grandmother, but did you tell her that her granddaughter is already married, or did you just say that she and her guests didn't show up at the shower?

I'll be honest -- some of this seems weird, and there have to be missing pieces that will probably make the OP seem less than the victim it sounds like she is. They got married, couldn't afford a taxi ride home, and they called you without sharing their secret? Why? Why did they call you? If you already have a BF, why would Daisy ask you to be her MOH (since you obviously have closer friends, and she's not one of them)? Were you trying to teach her a lesson by calling her shower something other than a shower? What about these other BMs? What plans did all of you make for this shower and what plans were made for financing it?
