I'm going to call the former friend 'Daisy' so you can keep up. Me and Daisy have been friends for 6 years. She recently reunited with a previous lover and they started dating. She randomly announced that they were getting married only after dating for literally 6 weeks. She asked me to be her maid of honor. I gladly accepted the honor and because they planned to get married in December (she announced it in August) I immediately started planning her Bridal shower! Her guest list went from 20 to 85 people. I ordered a catering company, tables and chairs rental, paid for floral arrangements for the centerpieces, hired a photographer and bought all the champagne and decoration. In October she called me asking if I could pick her up she was stranded. I went to get her and while waiting at the light, I saw a man in a suit and a woman in a long flowy white gown crossing the street. They went to the courthouse to get married! So they get in the car, continued in comment section

Ok, Daisy is a hot mess but, resorting to violence isn't the answer. I'm sorry this happened. You were a good friend & didn't deserve it but, let it go. What's done is done just don't let her back into your life. At some point she's bound to come begging.

I stopped reading at page 7, but who the hell foots the bill for what is essentially a wedding reception for a "bridal shower"? I have never, in my life, heard of anyone hiring a professional caterer, centerpieces, a photographer, etc. for an effing bridal shower. The first time I got married, my BS was held at a restaurant and someone paid the bill (to this day, I don't know who, but my FMIL is my best guess) and there were no centerpieces, venue, photographers.... When I was reading the description of the shower, my first thought was "this sounds more like a reception."

Also, someone that a person is in regular contact with doesn't just drop off the face of the earth, plus their spouse/S.O. .... That means you were blocked...if someone else could find them, but you couldn't..you were blocked. There HAS to be more to this and I am not buying it.

If all this is true, shame the hell on you for spending all that money on a bridal shower when you are planning your own wedding. Not only is it over-the-top, but it was obviously for show.

After hearing about the grandmother having her child for an extended time your idea about drugs sounds really logical. I had a friend drop an accusation at me of my FH and I drugging her and then immediately block me on all social media before I could reply. She still to this day says that we drugged her! When in actuality I woke her up every 2 hours bc she got a concussion while we were out hunting that day. She was actually smoking laced weed. Moral of the story? People do and say FUCKED up shit when they do drugs and want to shift the blame in their lives.

Drugs seem like a logical player. This whole situation sucks. Sadly I doubt you have a legal leg to stand on. Karma will catch up to her, and will not be pretty.

I would honestly would never contact her again but don't stoop to her level and try to take her to court. Getting even honestly isn't going to make things any better. I would be more hurt that my supposed friend dissed me more than the money issue. She sounds like a horrible friend. I had a friend that did something similar but not quite on this level. We haven't spoke in 10 years and we were friends since we were 5!
