No fondant?

Is anyone doing a cake minus fondant? I do not personally care for the taste and I can't fathom paying for something to then have it peeled off. Anyone on board with the no fondant?

I wanted to go no fondant. but half my cake is navy blue and that icing will stain teeth! So I am doing fondant over another kind of "normal" icing, so that I can peel off fondant and eat my cake Smiley smile Its not hard to peel off, and I figured people would rather that then have blue teeth!

No fondant for me! All buttercream and ricepaper with our damask pattern. We're also having an all red layer with black lace.

I'm making my own cake so it all depends on what I come up with for my wedding cake. I would like to not have fondant because i don't much care for the taste nor the texture but I don't mind peeling it off either...

Eww I hate fondant! My baker is doing butter cream icing and she can make it look just as smooth as fondant.

The cake that comes with our wedding package is buttercream icing, which I am totally fine with because I think fondant will taste yucky! Smiley smile

We are techinically doing both. We are doing french buttercream but with fondant lace pieces over it. Our baker recommended laying the lace on fondant but I thought it would be too much and I think it look great with the buttercream also.
