Need Song for Groom Dance with Mother Figure

Renee, on May 25, 2019 at 9:28 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 3

My groom's mother passed away 9 years ago. He is 37 years old and the closet person he has to a mother-figure is the mother of his friend/roommate who he has known for the past 6 years, so he would like to dance with her at our wedding.

However, we're having a hard time finding an appropriate song, as traditional mother/son songs don't really fit their relationship.

We are currently considering "I Hope You Dance" by Leanne Womack, but I was wondering if anyone has any more suggestions?

My father passed away recently, so I will be doing my father daughter dance with his best friend, who I call my uncle. We are going to dance to You Should be Here by Cole Swindell! It doesn’t fit our relationship? But the words are so spot on for honoring my dad!!! Maybe look for something like that to honor his momma?

    Hey Renee!

I think it’s so lovely that your FH will dance with someone who holds a special place in his heart. I’m sure she is honored to be involved in your wedding this way. I had a look in the ideas section to see if there are any articles with song suggestions. I found this one, I know that you are not looking explicitly for a ‘mother-son’ dance song but there might be some nice suggestions for songs that could work.

Hi Renee! Did you and your FH like any of the previous suggestions? Has your FH decided yet on a song for the dance?
