Where do you stand on wedding videography? Necessary or not?

I don’t think it’s necessary. It’s a nice addition but if you don’t have the budget for it that’s one thing to do without

I definitely don't think it's necessary, but my mom did suggest asking my brother to bring his small video camera just to shoot a few quick videos like our first dance and the cake cutting.

It would be nice to have videos of those moments, but I wouldn't want to spend money on a professionally edited video that I'll probably watch like once

So necessary! I want to be able to look back on that video forever! We're definitely splurging on extra features because I don't want to forget a single moment.

It came included for us. I got to watch it before the pics came in which was nice. I will say though we haven't watched it since.

This is a tough one! For me it's something that could be cut if someone's budget is absolutely strained, I definitely want this for my wedding. So much goes into planning and preparing for a wedding and it's over all in a couple of hours. I think having something to reflect on the memories is one of the most important things, so I say photography + videography is the way to go. If it's too expensive then just the photography.

Nope, not necessary. Our photographer is excellent and I'm sure our guests will record stuff.

Yes, only because there are some special moments that the bride and groom may miss that the videographer would catch. At my brother’s wedding, they captured the cutest moment between the grandmothers of the bride and groom sharing a secret. No one else would have ever noticed

Not, a luxury with today’s technology.

I wouldn’t consider this a necessity, but for the right price you may as well film your wedding since it will only happen once 🤞🏽🤣 A videographer is out of my budget but I might buy an iPad stand and just make sure it’s good to go for filming the ceremony. (I would want to film it for family overseas who cannot attend, or just so I can remember it in full...) It could then double as a photo booth or something during the reception 🙌🏽

I feel if you have a really good photographer, a videographer is completely unnecessary

I don't think so. That being said I'd like video of at least our ceremony so our photographer is setting us up with someone who is looking to build their portfolio and will do it for a good price as we dont have a budget for it

I agree, Amanda, and I think a lot of people (or at least the ones I know) are doing that. Filming the little moments and asking their guests to catch it on Snapchat and stuff like that.

That's sort of my school of thought, Emma. In my mind, the saying is "A picture speaks a thousand words," not necessarily a video.

Not for us, all my friends who sprung for one have only watched it once.

If you are on a budget and can afford it like me. Then have your guest share their videos and pictures. I’m sure there will be people recording.

I would like to have one, but do to my budget, we decided against. Plus with all the cell phone recordings their will be plenty of videos floating around and posted.

Not necessary. We are going without so we can have a wonderful photographer. Maybe we'll have a family friend get the ceremony on video, but its definitely not in the budget, and neither of us will be heartbroken, since we'll have our amazing photographer.

I'm sorry you can't fit a videographer in your budget, but I'm glad for the technology that we have around now! I know that I'd be trying to catch some Snapchats at the weddings I go to.
