My wedding is postponed due to covid 19 until next February..

But we did get married on our original date in April with just us, witnesses and the officiant. For those brides that did the same, are you having a full ceremony for your “official” wedding or will you just have the reception or party?

My fiancé and I are legally getting married in October and the wedding is in March. We are still doing the full ceremony at the wedding, that is where I will wear my actual wedding dress!

Good to hear! I didn’t get to wear my dress and I can’t wait to. I thought it might be seen as overkill but it was just us and we’ve been preparing for so long. Glad to hear I’m not alone.

I actually think many brides are taking this route because of Covid!

Congrats Sulai! I'm so glad you were still able to exchange vows and make it official! Smiley ring

I've heard couples on both sides! Some just having a reception, and also many couples who are planning to do a second ceremony (either a unity ceremony, exchanging vows and rings again in front of all your guests, or doing a vow renewal). And you should definitely rock your wedding dress if you want to!

Here are a few other discussions that would be helpful to check out, where other brides are considering two wedding celebrations: Postponed Weddings, Stupid covid, Hardest Decision, and Already Married, Planning Wedding Still.

We still got married on our date with only immediate family. We did everything non traditional though and wanted to save it for our big wedding date. I walked by myself, we said something sweet off the top of our head, I bought a cute white dress, we didn't do our first dance or anything of that sort. We wanted to keep it different from our big wedding, but now we are planning to have our wedding on our one year anniversary. Honestly I wouldn't have changed it for anything since now we are having to postpone a second time, a year from our original date of 06/19. Totally worth it.

We have postponed our October wedding to April next year but will still be having a very small backyard ceremony this year. We plan to have the full ceremony and and reception next year at which time I will wear my wedding dress.
