Postponed Weddings

Our original wedding date is 10/24/2020 and we're really considering postponing to next year due to the virus. If we do postpone, I still want to get married on our original date and just celebrate it next year. Is there anyone else doing the same? If so, how are you going about doing it? On your postponed celebration, are you still going to have a ceremony? Are you wearing your wedding dress for both?

Our wedding date is September 18 and we are having a destination wedding. We are going to start thinking of plan b options since we are concerned with everything going on and so are some of our guests. We are still planning on getting married on our wedding date, although worst case it may be in our backyard. I will still plan on wearing my dress and our planned attire.

We have the same wedding date, October 24th! Although, this was not our original date. Our original was May 30th, then July 18th, now October 24th. May 30th was special to us because it's the first date we picked together just days after we got engaged. Now, we are looking at postponing AGAIN. We are looking at next October, maybe the 23rd or 30th, and plan to get married just the two of us this year on the day so that our wedding next year will be on our anniversary. We feel that would make it more special rather than just picking a random date since our original date has passed and we don't want to reschedule for this May when we feel things may still be uncertain then.

    Best of luck to you!

We have the same date! Congratulations ❤️ We recently decided to postpone the reception to October 2021 and proceed with a small ceremony with immediate family only. We will also stream the ceremony for folks who are unable to join us. After the ceremony, we will have a small family dinner (complete w/ cake, toasts, and first dance). I WILL be wearing my dress this year and next.

Everything worked out in the end. Our reception is now 10-22-21 (anniversary weekend) and we leave for our honeymoon on 10-23-21. ❤️
Do what works for you! I’m sure your day will be special no matter what.

We’re doing the same. Our elopement is in October and we’re doing a vow renewal and having a celebration with close friends and family next spring,
I’m wearing my wedding dress for the elopement and buying a new dress for our vow renewal. We’re just having the ceremony for the elopement and are doing so at a nearby park,

We’re supposed to get married 10/30/2020 but due to a ton of restrictions we will have a “micromoni” followed by some food and cake with about 10-15 people so we can get legally married this year and we postponed our big wedding to 10/22/21. My officiant will come to me and then next year we don’t have to hire someone since it will be legal already so we will have someone do some readings and say vows so we have the whole ceremony experience and walking down the aisle with our wedding party and stuff. We are saving the wedding dress for next year and just going to get something cheap and simple to wear and the close friends like best man or MOH have to dress up, they will be saving their dresses and tuxes for next year and all my flowers will be used next year and just a small bouquet for me this year. Just something small and simple with family and best friends and however we decided to go about the mini reception will work out. It’s a little extra money spent but we will get to get married and share it with those close and then a year later we can have a big celebration!!!
