Mimosa bar - how many would you drink?

Nikki, on July 20, 2015 at 7:40 PM Posted in Planning 0 57

If you were at a lunch reception with a mimosa bar, how many mimosas would you drink?

Keeping in mind there's also fancy lemonade and ice tea as well as beers, Perrier and San Pellegrino fruit drinks.

One or maybe even none, if it's especially warm outside. Champagne with the sweetness of the juice I find makes me feel a bit queasy! I always want to love them, but... not my thing Smiley sad

There are alcohol calculators on line that are very reliable ... I used one for my reception, and then i cut down what it recommended by 30% because it was Sunday afternoon and people were mostly local (so driving).

That may also be helpful... and keep in mind, men and women drink differently, and different amounts - especially mid-day.

@MrsMorales haha! you would not be good for my budget :p

@Rebecca mid day does change how people drink which is making it hard for me to estimate. I'm guessing that most people will not be cabbing so each couple will have a designated driver who will drink very little...

If you serve it in champagne flutes, those suckers will go down fast. We serve mimosas opening night of every play at a local community theatre, and people drink several.

Probably 2, but it would depend on how good/much food there was. Better food = less drinking.

I love champagne. It's always my drink of choice, regardless of the event or time of day. Plus, I don't like lemonade, nor sparkling water (I think it taste weird?)...So if I was really in a celebratory mood, I'd probably end up consuming the better part of a full bottle of champagne. 5-6 maybe? Also depends on the champagne to juice ratio;being accustomed to straight champagne, I tend to go through mimosas pretty quickly...

I don't drink Mimosas at weddings because I've never been to anything other than a late afternoon/early evening wedding. With the exception of one cheapskate with a cash bar (my multi-millionaire FIL), I've never attended any wedding that didn't host top shelf/open bar. If Mimosas were on the menu, I'm guessing that I'd probably order five or six.

Are there going to be different flavors of orange juice for mixing? If so, one of each at the very least, you have to figure out which is the best after all.

Probably 2 but only if they were good. Mimosas aren't typically my thing but the last couple brunches I've been to have had amazing ones and I've ended up having a couple after tasting someone elses.

Too many. My best friend and I finished off a bottle of champagne together recently getting ready for a wedding we were in. If it was made for us... Oh dear
