    How it Works:

Unlike your Wedding Planner, your Lady In Waiting's sole responsibility is to look after you and you alone. She will attend to your needs the day of the wedding. Her duties can include :

    Rehearsal Day:

Stand in for the bride during the wedding rehearsal

Receive her duties from the bride for the Wedding Day

    Wedding Day:

Help the bride get into her bridal attire.

Be a messenger for the bride.

Remain with the bride until that all important walk down the aisle.

"Fluff" the bridal train before tshe makes her entrance into the ceremony.

Keep track of the bride's personal belongings (veil, purse, make up, bouquet, room key etc.)

Having a buffet, your Lady In Waiting will make the trip for the bride.

Make sure the bride's and groom's glasses are kept full with the beverage of choice.

Clean and prepare the bridal suite for the honeymoon night (when the reception is held in close proximity to the reception venue).

Your Lady In Waiting will make sure you are treated like royalty on your wedding day!

Ok a lady in waiting is someone that helps you with well everything... they are considered part of the wedding party so make sure to get them a gift (a nice one since imho they do more than anyone else) they take care of any little things that go wrong... Help the bride get into her bridal attire. Be a messenger for the bride. Remain with the bride until that all important walk down the aisle. "Fluff" the bridal train before tshe makes her entrance into the ceremony. Keep track of the bride's personal belongings (veil, purse, make up, bouquet, room key etc.) All that kind of stuff. They are just a close friend (or in my case 2 close cousins) that wants the day to go well and is happy to help ...

I was reading this out of curiousity (I've never heard of it before!) and one of my BMs is BASICALLY my Lady in Waiting lol. Can she have both titles? Or should I find someone else?

Hmm, I wonder how a person goes about asking someone to do that. My closest friends are in the BP but there is one other person I could ask but she's more like a second mom to me and her husband is one of our ushers. I think she'd like to do it but how do I ask?

If someone asked me to do this I would be really really mad. I am extremely laid back, but this sounds ridiculous to me. If you don't want to make me a BM, then don't, I'm fine with that. But don't make me your gopher.

The lady I'm thinking of is in her 40's and like I said was like a second mom. When my parents divorced and I was really jaded her and her husband really showed me how a loving marriage works and I want her to be involved. I wouldn't make her get my food and stuff I'd do that. I was just thinking, didn't mean to upset you Mrs. Potter Smiley sad

I don't want to make my BM feel like a gopher (good way to put it, Potters!!) but she and I are close and she is taking amazing care of me, even with the wedding day so far off. Do you think she'd be offended if I just flat out asked her? I'm pretty laid back, so she wouldn't be my slave, but it would nice to have someone who knows all my plans and everything to act as a go between for the guys and girls.

I wasn't mad... I was honored... I dont think of it as something negative plus its not like she has to say yes... If she is already like a second mom then she probably is hoping/expecting to be doing something (at least where i live most people pitch in for a wedding) I would take her out to eat tell her how much she means and ask if she would be willing to be your lady in waiting ...then probably have to explain to her what that is... I have done it a few times honestly (been one not asked) and have never had a problem with it... I want the bride to have a good day and definitly am happy to help.

I think getting you food is a little much btw but things like helping you get dressed and watching your purse while you walk down the isle is no where near the same thing as being a slave.

Oh okay, In text speak you sounded miffed at the whole idea and anyone who would consider it. I'd appreciate her help as a go between and she can go check on how the sanctuary looks and other things upstairs that I can't control. (I'm getting ready in the basement of the church)

I love the potters but am totally miffed that they are miffed (still love you though) I guess its how you are raised but i would never turn down an offer to help someone esp. on there big day... Its not like you are going "hey helper monkey get me a soda!" you just need someone to be like a stage manager (sorry i do drama so thats what i think of this as the same thing... you are the director and they are your stage manager ... a director cant control everything so they ask for a stage manager to do what they can to help... Its an honor not a pain ... Jmho

Weddings I have had they actually hire someone to do this, so your friends and family can enjoy the wedding, and I don't think it is all that expensive.
