Can someone explain what that is all about? What are the responsiblities of a Lady in Wating?

Haha, my friend that I asked to be my personal attendant (I guess that's what they call it in my area) told me she'd love to be my b*tch so no language prob kelsey. I guess it's a personal opinion (as most things are). I have a small bridal party and my close friend is just going to be there to help me keep order. I am sooo unorganized and she is so organized that I know she'll keep me on track. Also, she was close to being a BM (we really really wanted to keep our numbers down) and I really want her to be around while I'm getting ready, so now this gives her an opportunity to. But in no way am I going to boss her around or make her fetch things for me. Just an extra person there for support, keep us on schedule, be prepared w/safety pins, bobby pins, kleenex, or whatever else, and to have an eye on things since she won't be getting ready at that time.

Yeah i think of a lady in waiting as someone like monica off of friends... they are more organised, and would probably want to step in and do things "right" anyway... And yeah not bossing would be good...

Sass, just the other day the episode of Phoebe's wedding was on (I don't actually know too much about Friends just saw that episode). Maybe I should get Suz (my friend) a headset?!

Yeah I thought that this was something you paid someone to do. Like a wedding planner. I would feel bad asking anyone to do that. I'd feel like they were missing out on actually enjoying the wedding and stuff. I mean helping you get dressed and fluffing the train sounds like normal things to ask someone to do, but keeping your glass full during the night? That seems a little much to ask someone.

Haha potter's. no whistle's at my wedding!

@Carla, you don't have to stick w/the "tradition" duties. I haven't thought it all the way through, but I haven't planned on having my personal attendant (aka lady in waiting) do anything once the ceremony starts. For me I just want her there beforehand and to get me through the getting ready part. I guess the only thing I could see her helping w/past the ceremony would be photo stuff (like make sure my dress is fluffed in photos or something).

IMO, these things are what the MOH and BMs should be doing anyway.

Yeah if you want someone to fill your glass pay someone but someone to help you get into your dress while your bm's are getting ready is not really nesicarry to pay someone for... most people dont mind helping you get in a dress all that much...

@potters i was thinking like a bullhorn for her

Yeah exactly. I think that that's just what bridesmaids or your mom or whatever are doing anyway so if you want to give someone a special title then that's fine. But hire someone if you want them to fill your glasses and clean for you or fetch stuff for you the entire time.

My bridesmaids are in charge of getting me ready (and keeping me on time!!!) while I'm putting each of his aunts in charge of a different decorating duty and his grandmother is my task keeper. His dad is the foreman of the "Wedding Day Task Force." hehehehehe

I just "awarded" one of my BMs with the title. I didn't do it to order her around, but I gave it to her because she is already going way above and beyond anything that I ever expected from her. My two MOHs are out of town, and she's just completely taken over and is already helping me soooo much. In fact, she volunteered to go with me and my FH to Men's Warehouse so that he could see what I was thinking for colors for him and his GM. I only asked her after seeing this post, but she was thrilled!! I won't order her around or anything, but I felt that after she's already helped me so much, she deserves some recognition.
