Jessa Duggars wedding, ice cream reception. ?

Angel_D, on February 18, 2015 at 11:23 AM Posted in Planning 0 86

Ok, as much as we go back and forth here about how you should feed and properly host your guests, i was a bit shocked to find out, after watching the latest 19 kids and counting episode, that Jessa and her fiance had over 1,000 guest attend their wedding n they opted for only serving ice cream and sweet tea at their reception. odd? normal? i mean that is a LOT of guests.

she did look beautiful in her allure gown though.

Not shocked about the sweet tea-- would have expected a dry reception. Still, I'm surprised they didn't host the guests. I know that's a lot, but it's not like TLC wouldn't have chipped in.

Haha I think m nailed it.

I'd be all over an ice cream reception, but you've gotta have more than that. Like maybe actual food....

I guess it's their version of a cake and punch reception. However, with her parents having a net worth of 3.5M dollars, I think it would have been nice to keep the guest list to a mere 400 and given them some real food (wonder if the ice cream was donated...anyone know the brand?).

The wedding episode has not even aired. Yesterday's show was just one of their initial discussions about planning and that is what SHE said she wanted. She's a bit flakey. Do we actually know that they only served ice cream? I highly doubt that was the only food served. Usually a bunch of the women get together and make tea sandwiches and finger foods for those weddings. I would be surprised if it was only ice cream.

Nothing about the Duggar family should ever be considered okay or right. I'm not one to tell someone they can't do something, but they are just a rude family. What about all of the lactose-intolerant people there? They get nothing? What a terrible family. I don't give them any viewership.

I read that article as well and it says they had ice cream and brownies with toppings instead of a cake because Jessa doesn't like cake. I'm still not sure that was the ONLY food served at the reception. In any case, it was not over a meal time...it was a couple of hours in the afternoon. So that would be similar to "cake and punch" receptions which are common in some areas.

In families like theirs which are huge and their friends families are also huge, it common to have a large guest list and do finger foods in the afternoon, not serve a full meal.

This family gets an insane amount of attention, for reasons I haven't quite understood. I really don't see what makes them so special! Yes, they have lots and lots of children. Yes, they're Christians. Then one of said children gets married and the world loses it's mind!

I'm seriously just tired of hearing about them.

I think the older sister only had ice cream floats and popcorn/pretzels as well. To be fair though, most of their friends are families with 10+ children (or so it seems, hence the huge guest list), so it's more like they're catering to kids who like popcorn and ice cream lol

And I'm sorry, no one has 1000 guests. That's ridiculous and ego centric. Oh. Like a reality show!
