Jealous of FH's bachelor party and I feel so guilty about it =(

Kim, on July 30, 2013 at 4:04 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 72

I know this may selfish but I'm kind of jealous of FH's bachelor party. I'm also feeling nervous and guilty about it. I guess I don't really know how to feel, lol.

His guy friends are taking him to Holland (Amsterdam) and they're paying for his airfare and hotel stay.

Now the reasons I'm jealous. I know it sounds like a typical, needy gf but I feel like his next big trip out of the country should be with me, his future wife. He tells me "well babe, We're going out of the country, too." Okay we're going to maybe Mexico. Def not the same thing. Also I'm jealous because his last single hoorah is going to be better than mine. I know that sounds terrible and I would never expect anything so extravagant from my girls but there is a tad bit of jealousy factor on that part.

Next emotion is nervous. I feel nervous about him going out of the country so close to the wedding and the fact that anything can happen. Him and his friends are very intelligent but I worry. Continued in comments..

Not that I'm worried FH will cheat or anything but I guess I see so many horror movies and hear terrible stories and I don't know how safe Amsterdam is. I've never been there. I didn't say this to FH because he is just so excited about it and I don't want to be "that girl".

Anyone else been in a similar situation?

Your feelings are very understandable. I think I would feel the same way. Heck I am jealous that my hubby is going 4 hours away to Miami with his best friend.

Lol Amy! Me too! I've been dying to go there. His one groomsmen does some crazy programming stuff and works out of the country all the time so I guess he racked up some serious frequent flyer miles, lol. They usually do take "guy trips" but it's usually a snowboarding trip to like Colorado or Wyoming. And I've never been one to invite myself and I know I would most def not be invited on this trip, haha. lol@Marlina. Miami? Hell yes that sounds awesome! I would be jealous of that too! I guess I'm jealous of any and every human who gets to travel further than Baltimore lol

Totally understandable!!! To ease your mind you should have him call you every night b4 he goes to sleep. (or first thing when he wakes up) whichever would make you feel better! Boy does he have some great friends!!

No they're serious. They have all been best friends since middle school and he is the first one to get married out of all of them. Apparently they called him last night and told him it was being taken care of. Is it bad that part of me is hoping it doesnt happen?

Edited for wording because I'm stupid, lol.

Yeah I'd be super jealous. I would plan an equally awesome trip with a friend and go somewhere even more amazing while he's gone.

I'm jealous of my FH's too. They are flying him away for 3 days and he doesn't have to lift a finger. I'm planning my own bachelorette party. I have to downgrade it because I have 1 pregnant bridesmaid & 1 broke one. I'm trying not to be bitter about it lol

I love my girls but none of them are in the position to plan something to that scale. And that is totally fine. But damn, lol. Not to mention I'm worried how much FH will spend on alcohol and well, we all know what is legal over there Cough*weed*cough. He is an adult and can manage his own money but lord knows what kind of tab those boys will rack up over there.

@Amy Thats what I said. If he is going to Europe then he should take me!! But I've never been the type of person to tell him he can't do something. and he is just so excited about it. I think they're pretty serious because they have been planning since March (when we got engaged) and apparently the phone call last night was about where they're staying and blah, blah. They do take snowboarding tips across the country but nothing to this scale. I guess I'm a jealous worry wart, lol.

@LadyCrystal, girl you sound like me. Do we have the same group of friends? lol but I love them so dearly and wouldn't change a thing. Well except maybe a European bachelorette party, lol!

I would be jealous too. It's alright to be jealous, just don't let it ruin his fun. You just need to reassure yourself that everything will be fine and he will be.

Amsterdam is totally safe! As long as they are relatively responsible. I lived there in my early 20s for a few months and was just find wandering around the streets and going out at night (I always had my roommate with me, but still)

Just to calm your fears a bit. It really is a good place as long as you have some amount of common sense which I'm sure your FH does and really is no different from any other big city.

Jealousy is fine, but don't let it ruin his or your fun. You both will be getting married soon and you honeymoon will be amazing!!!! Plus you have your whole lives to go to Europe together and top that Bachelor trip Smiley smile

My FH is a great planner! He details everything and remembers it all. Plus, doesn't procrastinate! LOL

I understand your feelings, Kim, but really, it's only a trip at the end of the day, you know? Think about the wonderful trips you'll have together once your're married and you'll soon forget about the bachelor party.

I've spent time in Amsterdam. It's pretty harmless and in fact he'll probably go out drinking, they'll admire the crazy women in the plate glass windows, and head on home.

I actually believe that pot smoking by ex-pats (people visiting) is now illegal in Amsterdam so... hopefully they aren't too disappointed by that. It's be easier and better to just head to Denver.
