Is it okay to wear your rings when you wash your hands?

I've been taking off my white gold engagement ring when I wash my hands and shower but FH freaks out because he thinks I'll lose it, forget it, or drop it down the drain if I don't keep it on. So is it okay to wear your ring when you wash your hands and/or take a shower? What do you all do?

I take mine off to shower and do dishes. The only reason I really take it off is because it's loose and I'm afraid of it fall down the drain. I don't take it off anywhere else. I purchased a drain stopper but FH keeps taking it out (why I don't know)

Yes. I definitely wouldn't take them off on public!! That's way too risky to lose them!

I don't take mine off unless I'm doing a lot of cooking or scrubbing my house.

Honestly I only take mine off when I'm working out or cooking.

I take mine off at home to wash dishes, wash my hands, shower etc. I never take it off in a public place. I don't want to lose it.

Yes. We spoke to our jeweler and he said I can do anything with it except lose it lol.

Seriously though he said don't wear it when lifting weights, going for a swim and when using cleaning products, unless I wear gloves.

I only take my ring off to fly (It goes in the box, in the zipper compartment of my purse because my hands swell) and to swim... I leave it on to shower. Wash hands. Etc

I keep my ring box in the bathroom for when I shower and before bed. I also take it off when I'm doing dishes and I have a special place for that too. Better safe than sorry!

I take mine off for everything! Shower, washing hands, cooking, cleaning. My FH spent too much on my ring for me to jack it up doing the dailies. It drives me nuts when I watch women put hand lotion on with their rings!! It's so bad for the ring!!!

I take it off for hand washing and showers or any time I'm doing food prep (which means the entire time I'm at work).

I can't stand feeling like I have water on my finger under my ring that I couldn't dry off

I generally keep mine on, but I do take it off when cooking where I have to put my hands in the food like making hamburgers or pie crust. I also take it off when going to the beach and when I shower. I have curly hair and with the way the prongs are on my ring it snags my hair and hurts. My MOH made me a ring stand that I keep my ring on when I'm not wearing it.

I take mine off to shower and when I do my makeup I won't take it off in public because I dropped my wedding band out of the box while showing it to someone at work after he asked me and I was taking it to get it sized (I work at Kohls) and that scared me. So I said I would never pull it out of the box again till the day of the wedding and I'd never take my ring off in public so I clean my ring one or two times a month and wash my hands with it on when I'm out and about

I've only had my e-ring for four weeks now, but I pretty much wear it all the time - including showering and working out (I go to the gym every weekday before work - but just for spin or yoga and don't lift). Partly because I figure it's safer on my finger than anywhere else, and partly because it hurts so dang much to get it over my knuckle. I did wear it on one of those Emily C-inspired necklaces on Wednesday during manicure & while I was running errands because I was trying to keep it clean for engagement photos that night.

ETA: Mine's platinum and I will take it off to dive (but bought us silicone rings for honeymoon diving!)

Is it okay? Yes. But it's risk vs benefit. On one hand showering and washing does affect the ring to some extent. On the other, you might lose it if you take it off.

For me I never take mine off around a drain. I also stash it in a ring box when I need to wash dishes or string it on my necklace at work bc I constantly gel sanitize my hands. But hey, you know yourself best.

I almost never take mine off. Pretty much just for spray tanning, which I don't do often. I use gloves at home if I'm doing something that might get my ring dirty. I have large knuckles, so taking the ring on and off would be a huge hassle, plus the large knuckles means it's highly unlikely my ring would accidentally slip off.

I only wear a plain white gold band at home, but I do everything in it. My diamond set I will keep on when I wash my hands.

I'd never even heard of someone taking their ring off to wash their hands until I came to this site. I'm certain I've never seen a woman take off her ring in a public restroom either. I take mine off to shower (because it would get caught in my hair), to work on cars, and when dealing with chemicals and raw meats. I also wear two other rings, so they all come off in the same situations, the other two are silver.

The only time that I really take my ring off is if I am swimming in the ocean!
