Is it ok to leave parents names off the invitation?

So I am fighting with the problem of putting our parents names on our invitations or not. My FH father passed just over a year ago and my parents are divorced and don't talk at all. Would it be rude not to put their names on our invites?

We're doing like a lot of PPs, using together with their parents...

My folks are divorced and my mother paid for most of the wedding but she did not want her name on the invite alone so we did just. Together with our Parents....

We are only putting our names on our invites, even though my mom is paying for a lot of stuff and his parents are hosting the rehearsal dinner. In our programs we are going to mention a special thanks to them. I don't like they way it clutters (imo) up the invite with so many names on it! I just wanted it to be fh and I's. Here is a link to my post if you want to see the wording I used. https://www.weddingwire.com/wedding-forums/invite-advice/d7129df1ffd0bc08.html

The people who are paying are put on the invitation. If the parents are paying then you have to out them on the invite since they are basically "hosting" the event. If you and your fh are paying then you are hosting and only your names go on the invite...

I agree, if they are not contributing, then that's fine. I plan to do the same thing.

I had the same issue. me and FH are paying for everything, but in order to honor them still we put "Together with our parents as we ...... are united in marriage."

I read that when your parents are giving you the wedeing that is when you put their names on it. i am not having my parents name on the invitation, since fh and i are paying for our own wedding.

Sure. My brother's reception invitations will be something like this:

    The MissMichal Family

Cordially invites you to the celebration of the marriage of

    My Brother and His Wife

    etc.

Clarification: My parents and I are the hosts, and we are giving my brother and his wife a reception.

You dont hav to put their names on it. I am putting our kids who is giving us away b/c not one person is helping with the expensises. Both of our parents put in equal amounts but we contrubited the most. So I don't see a problem with leaving them off the invites.

Thanks ladies this helps A LOT! I do agree that having so many names would clutter it up.

I just want to say, not related to the post at all, I love your wedding date! Haha, if FH and I were will to wait another year to be in the same state we would use that date. Its our things, at 11:11 we always say "Happy 11:11" seems dumb, but its like a secret "I love you" to each other. Just thought I'd mention. haha

Thank you. It was a compromise. He wanted 12/21/12 because that's the day the world is spose to end AGAIN! LOL He thinks it would be cool to prove everyone wrong, but I didn't want to get married in the middle of winter and didn't want to wait 4 yrs. So we came up with a deal that we would get married on a "COOL" day. It's his sisters b-day and it's the one that I don't like so I'm not looking forward to sharing our day with her, but maybe by then she will come to her senses and not be so stuck on herself. She has NO respect for him at all. This summer I invited his family for a grill out on my birthday because I love having people come visit and i was also getting ready for a rummage sale at the same time unloading my dads truck. (it took longer that I expected) she asked if there was anything that I wanted them to do and I told her no because they were our guest. I didn't want to put them to work so I told her to go see what Dane was doing (my FH) she had the nerve to say cont

Mine are worded "Corey and Lauren" (that's us.) "With the Love and Support of their Parents" invite you blah blah blah" so it includes them without actually throwing a jumble of names on the invite. you could say you're guy's names and then "with the love and support of their families invite you..." =) just an idea.

Cont " I don't like Dane Sloan (his younger bro) is my REAL brother.) You have no idea how much that made me mad. Last time i checked they had the same parents! needless to say I haven't talked to her since and that is ok with me, but it bothers me because he has NEVER done anything wrong to deserve that. Infact she is the one who was driving his WORKING car that his dad was just spose to fix a trans leak and then give it back but that never happened and she was driving it around and trashed it and the car he was given by them didn't even make it through the winter and is now sitting in a public parking lot. Since then I had to take a larger car loan out to get another working car because we couldn't live off one car when my schedule got changed again. This doesn't have to do with the forum but once I get going I just have to let it out.

I like that because both our parents support our decisions.

May you have a happy wedding, no matter what, the happiness of you two and your parents are the most important thing.
