Is it ok to leave parents names off the invitation?

So I am fighting with the problem of putting our parents names on our invitations or not. My FH father passed just over a year ago and my parents are divorced and don't talk at all. Would it be rude not to put their names on our invites?

The only names that will be on our invitations will be ours. We are hosting our wedding.

I agree with all the ladies who said that if they are not paying then don't put them on. You can put in the programs their names and put a "loving memory" for his father.

If they aren't paying for the wedding you don't have to put their names on the invitations. My FH and I are paying for everything ourselves and not including our parents names on the invites.

I love all of the different variations on the wording, especially Laurens.

Bottomline....if the parents are paying(hosting) than just the hosting parents, usually the bride's, names go on the invitation.

Re divorce....I am planning my own fall wedding, and my 23 year old will have a 2012 fall wedding. Her father and I are divorced. However, her father and I will be paying for it(mostly the ex)...so her invitations will read....Mr. THE EX and Mrs. ME request the honor or your prescence at the marriage of their daughter....DAUGHTERS NAME HERE to FUTURE SON IN LAWS NAME HERE...YADA YADA. We are leaving spouses out. Also, in introductions, spouses are being left out. Reason....my FH has been in her life since she was 15,however,the ex just met the gal he married and my daughter has had little or no contact with her since she was a way at school, and then moved. Sooo...we are keeping it just parents...but using our last names and Mrs. for me...did that make sense?

Remembering loved ones who passed.... There are many ways to honor them. They make a memorial candle. You can list them in your program. If it is a Catholic ceremony, it would be listed in the "Prayers of the Faithful."

We are having my youngest daughter and FH's adult son play acoustic guitar and sing Pink Floyd's "Wish You Were Here" to honor FH's deceased parents, and my best friend and sister who lost her battle with cancer 2 years ago.

My FH is athiest so we are having a civil wedding so there wont be a prayer service. We are giving flowers to the parents so I was thinking of giving his mom a flower for his dad that way he isn't left out.

Yeah i dont think i'm going to put any parents names on the invite, just because i would need a frickin scroll. almost all parties are re-married so it would be like

mr. so and so and his wife so and so

and mrs. so and so and her husband so and so

and mr. so and so and his wife so and so

    and ms. so and so.....

    lol, nah too much.
