I was on Christmas break from college. I was relaxing at home in Pittsburgh staying with my mother, Vicky. Let me start off by saying my mother is a planner, who is not very spontaneous by any means of the word. My mom's boyfriend, Tim, was out of town visiting a friend in Cleveland. She recieved a phone call from Tim and he asked her if she wanted to drive to Cleveland because they were having some sort of Greek party at a relatives house. My mom asked if I wanted to go. I was in shock because my mom, in real life, would have needed at least a month in advance to plan a trip to Cleveland. But she would not let it go. "Come on Steph let's just go check it out." I didn't want to go, I wanted to stay home and go out with my friends. But my mom is my best friend, and I took her up on her first ever spontaneous side. So I agreed to join her on a trip to Cleveland with only ONE request....that there be a CUTE GREEK BOY there. Tim's daughter Angela joined us. She's like the sister I never had. And so we began our random road trip to Cleveland. We get to the Greek party that they were having at (ready for this..) Tim's friend Stephan's sister in law Vaso's house (did you get that? lol) It was celebration for her "name day". (Greeks celebrate name days kind of like American birthdays.) After many drinks of Ouzo and OJ, in walks a tall, dark, Greek boy in a canary yellow shirt, ripped jeans & gator boots. He was cute but I didn't immediatly think I'd ever fall in love with him. Tim (my mom's boyfriend) grabs this Greek boy by the arm and drags him over to me and says "STEPH HERES THE GREEK BOY I PROMISED YOU!!!!" My face goes BEAT red and I am in total embarassment!! I could not believe he did that. After some awkard small talk, we get back to drinking and partying. He's talking to his friends and I'm hanging out with Angela. I really didn't even get a chance to talk to him. The party is almost over and we all decide to go out to a Bouzoukia (Greek bar) for some more drinking and dancing. We are all leaving Vaso's house and Angela jumps into the cute Greek boy's white Jeep. She said "We are coming with you!" And she made me sit in the front seat with him, embarrassing me even more. We get to the Greek bar and dance all night long. John and I danced and laughed and drank and just had such a good, fun time. We went home, I went back to college and he was in Cleveland. I remember the way he smiled at me and I couldn't get it out of my head. We talked here and there and he decided to come visit me at my school. I was so excited. He brought me flowers and we went on a first "date". He was the sweetest, kindest, most amazing guy I ever met. No guy ever bought me flowers for no reason and treated me the way he did. We had such an instant connection and we were always laughing together. We have been together ever since that day we met in Cleveland. We learned a lot along the way, along the 4 years we've been together. We were long distance for a large part of our relationship but no matter how hard things got, we always worked it out and it really proved our love. I decided to move to Cleveland after I graduated college. Our relationship has only gotten stronger and I am so thankful for the fate that brought us together. <3
