Is anyone just not doing wedding favors?

Allison, on April 16, 2012 at 3:50 PM Posted in Planning 0 29

I see lots of great posts about what everyone is doing for wedding favors. I really haven't found anything that fits my fiance and I well enough to want to do it. Is everyone doing some sort of favor? Is it ok not to?

I am not having favors ... Instead we will be doing a candy buffet. That way people can make up their own little "favor" bag of candy if they want or just eat it through out the night. I couldn't find anything we liked either plus I know most people just throw favors away when they get home (I usually do lol).

I'm not doing one. My family is pressuring us into it, but as a guest I never keep the favor. Heck, I'm getting a really nice dinner, booze, and dancing... that's thank you enough for me!

It's totally ok not to have wedding favors. I, myself, am not having any. Honestly, most of the wedding favors I've gotten over the years have ended up in the trash during spring cleaning. If you still want to have something, a lot of people do candy bars or water bottles with personalized labels. It's something that eveyone would like to have, but not anything that's just going to lay around the house and gather dust.

No favors here. I spent the extra money on good food and a highly recommended DJ. Oh and a couple "special" bottles of booze.

It's perfectly okay to skip the favors. If it is not the norm in your family/culture, put the money in another section of the budget.

In our culture(Italian), it is practically criminal not to give favors. If you can't give a porcelean chachky(sp)capidomonte in Italian, than you have to give something edible. We did welcome bags, little boxes with maple candy and a candy buffet.

For my daughter's wedding, I am doing little boxes of amorini(which are like M&Ms, but they are shaped like a heart and are imported from Italy). We are also giving a parting favor, a packet of wildflower seeds that will bloom from late August until the first frost. We are packing them up with a magnet of their monogram on the outside.

I actually thought about not doing favors untill I saw 4 weddings and the girls were upset that a candy bag was the favor.

So I'm doing wedding favors people can use.

A little liquar bottle and these maple leaf jewelry holders.

Dessert buffet and photo booth, the cool thing about the photo booth is that with this company it has a touch screen inside the booth so you can send your photo strip to your twitter, face book or your e-mail, they also get a copy to take home. I don't even know where any of the favors i received at weddings ended up....://

It's okay to not do them. We're not really doing them. We are having a photo booth so it kind of acts like a favor, but we're not doing anything other than that.

I'm so glad I saw this discussion!! I've just started planning, but I kind of hate the idea of putting a lot of thought and effort into something that I know is just going to go in a junk drawer or the trash, especially since I'm on a pretty tight budget. Now I can feel good about having just a photo booth, instead of stressing over both!

Our photobooth picture strips are our favor, and if people dont want to do it then oh well Smiley smile they're going to have our name and date on them but if people dont like that they can cut that part off the top... and its unlimited for 4 hours so they can get hundreds of pictures instead of a "throw away" gift IMO.

We're giving homemade cookies. Props to my momma for that. Smiley smile

I say edible or forgettable. Smiley smile With a rare exception for photo booth strips and maybe 1 or 2 other things in the dozens of weddings I've attended. And it's totally fine to skip them! Most people won't even notice.
