Is anyone just not doing wedding favors?

I see lots of great posts about what everyone is doing for wedding favors. I really haven't found anything that fits my fiance and I well enough to want to do it. Is everyone doing some sort of favor? Is it ok not to?

The only wedding favor I have ever kept is a shot glass! Even though its personalized, they'll still be used. I'm not sure yet what i'm going to do. Part of me doesn't want to spend the money, and if I do, it'll probably be edible!

We're not. We decided from the get-go that as far as this and the majority of our registry, we want it to be about giving to those in need around the world. So we're donating in lieu of favors. The only favor option that I thought of later and think would really go with us and our wedding is giving seed packets (i.e. heirloom tomato seeds), but my FH said some people wouldn't plant them so it could be wasteful. He has a major green thumb and I'm hoping to use some of our home-grown tomatoes in the cocktail hour gazpacho and caprese skewers, so I thought they would connect well w/ that and the natural, rustic theme we're doing. (We're into buying local and growing our own food, plus some of our guests do community gardening w/ us.)

If you do this, I suggest buying non-Monsanto seeds. The site we've used for our own seeds is www.tomatofest.com. They rock!

No favors here! Also not spending a ton on invitations--people just throw those away too!

I didn't even realize until just right now that the past few weddings I have been to had no favors and it didn't even phase me.

Maybe I won't have any either...

I agree, but with weddings, it's the little details that make it yours. Favors are a nice way to give people something that reminds them of you. These wedding poppers are biodegradable and can be used in place of rice, bubbles, etc. for your grand exit!

We're doing a candy bar like some of the other people said, but you definitely don't need to have favours... If I went to a wedding where there wasn't anything I don't think I would even notice to be honest.

I'm not doing them. I think they are a total waste of money. I'm sorry but why would I want to keep some little cheap thing with someone else's name and wedding date on it? My friend got married 3 weeks ago and bought personalized shot glasses for favors. She has a ton left over because hardly anybody took them home. I'd rather spend that money on booze or food! Smiley smile
