Is anyone else NOT having a wedding video?

If you're married and didn't have one, do you regret it now? If you’re getting married are you planning on having one, what are your reasons? And if you’re not having one, why not? As of right now we are NOT having one, due to budget… I rather spend the money on photographer… and he doesn’t do...

As of right now we are NOT having one, due to budget… I rather spend the money on photographer… and he doesn’t do video!

At the moment we booked him we didn’t care much about a wedding video, because my sisters & cousins who have had a videographer haven’t watched their video in their 10 yrs they’ve been married… so is it a waste of money?

I’m asking because now that I’ve seen some wedding videos online.. they are so cute, sweet and very touching, and I think I might want to watch it on every anniversary! lol

I would love to have one, but there's NO WAY that's in our budget. The DJ is going to be the most costly thing and I'm not looking forward to finding one of those as is as it's really not a priority for Nick or myself but I understand why it's so important.

Triple post? If it does it again I am leaving it and I don't know why it's doing it, I've only hit the button once!

We are having one as it is a packaged deal along with the photographer and dj at a great price and based on their website, facebook and the things we saw when we met with one of the owners of the company, the price is right and the product is worth it. I too like the idea of pulling it out and looking at it every year for our anniversary.

We aren't having one. Biggest reason is because of our budget

Wedding #1 we had a video...back in the old VHS tape days Smiley winking. We watched it a few times the first year....then sporadically over the next decade..then everything switched to DVD and it is sitting somewhere collecting dust.

That being said, YES, we're having a videographer. The photo can only capture so much..the video, being fluid...will capture a lot more of the wedding and your guests over the photographer I think. It's costly..yes...and 10yrs down the road..you may think it was a waste...but I think it's worth it...and I've done it before.

We are having 2 photographers & thought about the video, but decided against it...

BUT we will have my uncle sit in a corner (or 1st row) with a video camera, just a regular small video camera, & then I will put it on a CD ..

It will save us A LOT of $$ that way.. Yes I do understand it wont be nicely made with all kind of extras, but most of the people I spoke to that did the video, they havent even watched it, or watched it once & thats it..

So video would be nice for our baby when he/she grows up to see, but I dont think we need to spend hunderds/thousands on it.. regular home video is plenty

    Good solution, Irchykk.

We went the $$ route...company does film production/commerical grade stuff based on what I've seen. Maybe it'll be good enough for an Academy Award for Indie documentary Smiley winking

We're not hiring a videographer. I wasn't sure we could fit it into the budget. In addition, FH doesn't like to see himself on film or camera, so that was the deciding factor -- I barely convinced him to do engagement photos, haha

I'm not having one, just because I think that I'd rather have the photos of my crying. You can't edit a video to make me face look less messy. You can edited a picture though Smiley laugh On a side note, I think it'd be a waste of money on my behalf since I don't foresee watching my wedding video...........ever. I'd at least be able to see my pictures everyday in the hallway you know?

I had one with my first marriage and it was nice and all and we watched it a couple times and then.... This time we're pretty low-key and the photographer is a family friend. I think we'll enjoy the pics from the photo booth and guests' comments in the scrapbook more.

I did not pay or plan for one. The way i see it, i have a bunch of teenagers running around with cameras and cell phones (along with everyone else there) who i am more than sure will pull them out and take videos of everything and posting them online via facebook or youtube. so i plan on getting them from them afterwards and putting them all on a DVD for a later day to watch. Ive been thinking of just giving my niece that as her "job" to do and give her a little something for doing it. Good luck!

We didn't have one and I don't regret it. I'm not a fan of having my picture taken, let alone a whole freaking video! We have the CD's of the wedding pictures...that's fine for me.

Ok ladies, BIG MISTAKE! A videographer is needed, I didn't have one because I hate videos&instead of paying for one I decided to just use that money and put it toward my honeymoon, let me just say that if you don't you are going to have only one point of view to go back and reflect on, and that's yours only, others can tell you what they saw but its not the same as you being there. My first dance (which I vaguely remember) was me just gazing into my honeys eyes, I didn't get to see how my mom was crying and how all the people were saying "Awww" (that's what my brother said happen) I wish I had someone record all of those moments.....

If anything you guys should just tell a cousin or someone that isn't really that important to take video cameras now a days have really good video quality and can record in HD, they will be honored you asked&you will be glad you did it. Wish I would have ):

We went with one of our guests shooting the ceremony only, and were very happy with it. As a bonus, this was a guest with a nice sense of humor, so we ended up with a bloopers video as well. LOL If anyone wants to PM me, I'd be happy to give them a link.

We are not having a videographer simply because of budget. FH and I already went $3k over what we originally wanted to spend on the wedding and I don't want to push it any farther. I wish I could have one though, every time I see someone else's wedding video I want one! My cousin's hubby is a camera man for the local cable station though and their son is in the wedding so there's a chance he might video for us =)
