Is anyone else NOT having a wedding video?

If you're married and didn't have one, do you regret it now? If you’re getting married are you planning on having one, what are your reasons? And if you’re not having one, why not? As of right now we are NOT having one, due to budget… I rather spend the money on photographer… and he doesn’t do...

As of right now we are NOT having one, due to budget… I rather spend the money on photographer… and he doesn’t do video!

At the moment we booked him we didn’t care much about a wedding video, because my sisters & cousins who have had a videographer haven’t watched their video in their 10 yrs they’ve been married… so is it a waste of money?

I’m asking because now that I’ve seen some wedding videos online.. they are so cute, sweet and very touching, and I think I might want to watch it on every anniversary! lol

Let me throw our situation/reflections out there for your consideration. We did not want/hire a videographer. Had issues w/ our photographer in terms of e-pic quality and turnaround time, him not remembering things, and day-of, him pestering BP/MUA/me 9 million times asking when I was getting into the dress (starting almost 3 hours before the ceremony). Yes, I gave him a day-of schedule + shot lists. Didn't m ake a difference. We've seen no teaser and doubt that we will. Fingers crossed for decent pics.

Well, as I was walking into the garden/aisle some guy I'd never seen was up and moving around with a camera. Turns out he was H's college friend and he offered to shoot video of the wedding. H told him to sit in a chair the whole time, but he got pretty overzealous so during the ceremony he was in the aisle and he tended to be pretty intrusive. If you go with a non-pro videographer in particular, understand s/he may get in the way of your photographer getting the shots you want.

    Cont'd

Our photographer didn't need any challenges (we've had issues with his work not seeming up to par w/ what was on his site, etc. and not being at all what we asked for, and we found him on WW), but I'm certain that now he'll blame this other guy for making his job more difficult.

It was a sweet idea of the college friend, but given that H isn't super-assertive, I wish I'd known to orchestrate things or tell specific parts to videotape. H's parents live across the globe so I'm all for a little video for them, but now I'm dreading the photographs even more. You may well end up w/ too many photos of the videotaping friend/coworker/relative that would be awesome otherwise.

Sorry to sound negative, but I want to spare anybody what we just experienced if it's possible.

We had one and I am glad we did. If you know someone with a iPhone or iPad they can record it and h can find someone to edit it at a later time.

We are not paying for a videographer, but I might give my brother our SLR camera and have him record it from the sidelines Smiley smile

We weren't gonna have one because I didn't want to spend $3k on it. Then a friend suggested that we go on Craigslist and we found a guy that will do the whole thing for $250. So now we have one.

We werent planning on having one because it didnt fit into our budget. However my photographer just added a Video portion to her company and gave a HUGE discount to the first 10 brides to sign up... I jumped right on that opportunity. Im so excited about it now!

I had one at my first wedding and really never watched it except right afterwards and our first anniversary. Now that I am planning my second wedding that was the first thing we knocked off the budget. I would much rather spend the money on a good photographer. Those can be hung in your house and used much more often than a video.

Wedding videos these days are much different than they were years ago with the boring and ugly effect. Nowadays, the movies are more interesting to watch. At Starlight Studioz each movie is crafted to the bride and groom. You provide us songs that we use to edit the movie so it's something you'll want to watch over and over again. You only get married once (hopefully) so why take the chance of possibly regretting it. If budget is a concern you can definitely limit the hours the videographer will be there to cover the event. Watching the video lets you relive that day forever and show your kids in the future. When I watch my highlight video I get teary eyed each time https://vimeo.com/39851596

If you like what you see, feel free to email or call us we shoot weddings in the NY metro area (please mention WW). We work with our brides to give them great memories without breaking the bank.

I plan on it. I have spoken to married friends and they all regretted not having one. They say the day goes by so fast and in such a blur. Im not sure what the average prices are but I found one for $900.
