I'm getting married in november of 2017, and my theme is fall! My girls and I will be wearing boots, I really want a farm/barn type place but cant find any under $3000! My budget is capped at $2000 and I live in Macon so it can't be more than about 45 minutes away. HELP?!

    "That's a fucking cat I met" lmao Now I'm picturing you being introduced and shaking his paw. Smiley xd

    @Ariana thanks for answering my question. I was honestly just curious cause you said you were doing everything yourself. I'm a bride having a home ceremony so don't think I'm, like, looking down on you about having a small budget or small wedding or whatever.

    @Ariana, that's not a meme. That's just a cat.

    I have to agree with PPs, $2000 might not be a realistic venue budget. I live in a cheap, rural area (finest catering in the area is $3,000 for 200 people) and my barn venue is $1,750. And that's just the space with table and chairs. I have to do everything else.

    Please don't make your friends and family help diy your wedding. If they offer that is one thing, but you can't ask them. If they do offers be prepared for whatever they make for you. Sometimes people over promise and under deliver. Also, why do you have to stay so close to home?

    DH and I have an old stone barn on our property. We have been asked many times if we would rent it out for various events. Weddings included. The answer was no. We can have a party in our barn, but we can not rent it out. To anyone. We are not licensed for that. Then there is the liability concern. Our insurance company and our lawyer warned us not to do it. So did the local government.

    So are you expecting to instill manners through your generic bridal bouquet avatar? Your logic is flawed.

    Thanks lovin' life for proving my point about barn event restrictions.

    I can't believe someone found an issue with Beatrice's cat...

    I've read this whole thread and the only poster that seems really negative is Ariana. There's no accounting for lack of insight.

    I live in Dayton Ohio and I am getting married in Cincinnati Ohio and my venue is a Barn that's strictly meant for holding events. Fully insured, provides tables &a chairs.. built in 2008 and was only $1000

    Haley- nice recommendation, but OP isn't even willing to travel much within Georgia, let alone to Ohio...

    Your welcome Holly. The idea of asking someone to rent out their barn to a stranger for one day just has too many issues. For both parties. It is illegal in many places for that reason.

    This is getting ridiculous, you guys are implying that I'm forcing my family to decorate my venue, that if I do decide to diy a barn my family will think I'm crazy, that I'm crawled in a ball somewhere crying over this, etc. I haven't commented in a very long time. Yet you guys keep eating at me and others that are contradicting that you can't have a farm wedding venue for $2000. I did not ask for all of this and it needs to stop. Ariana was just trying to defend me and I appreciate her for that. And MRS.A, you should stop assuming, don't know know it makes an ass out of u and me? I have called/emailed literally every venue I could find on google, Facebook, and other sites. This was my last resort. So please everyone just chill out and back off..

    Actual question for OP - Is there a reason a barn is so important to you? It is a very trendy/pinteresty kind of thing right now, which is why it is so expensive and why dates at the places you like are hard to find. Did you grow up on a farm? Do barns have significance to your relationship? I'm just asking because I live in a suburban area where a lot of girls "dream" of getting married in a barn, but have probably never been in one, they just think it's cool. Now don't get me wrong, barns can be beautiful, but so can parks, restaurants, historic homes, banquet halls and a lot of other venues. A few brides on here have told you how they wish they went with an all-inclusive place because it would have been easier and cheaper... Is that something you have considered at all?

    Also is there are reason you are so stuck on your specific date? If there are venues you like that are in your price range, why not just go with a date they have open? Any day you get married will become your new anniversary and be a special day. Unfortunately not everything in life (and wedding planning) can always go 100 percent your way. Sometimes you have to compromise in small ways to get what you want. None of the ladies here are saying you can't have a beautiful and fun wedding, just the means to get there might need to look a little different than you originally planned. Being flexible is a great skill that will help you get through wedding planning, but also probably would be useful in your career and your marriage.

    FFS, did you even read what I wrote? I never said you couldn't have a barn venue for $2,000. Delphina found you a venue that would definitely work for your budget, but you're not willing to travel a little farther. You found venues in your area in your budget, but you're not willing to change your date. I'm just being realistic. If there aren't any barn venues in your area on your date under your budget, then you have to change one of those three things.
