False? Parents budget was roughly $50k which we may not even hit, and then my FH and I were willing to add on top of that.

True by a landslide. It’s pretty stressful but yeah lol. If our number was smaller, food would be less, and we would be fine.

True! We didn't set a real budget because neither of us had any idea going in how expensive all things wedding related are - I guessed we could probably do everything for about $5-6k! When we actually got a couple months in, had picked a venue and started deciding on things, we set a rough number of what we thought we wanted to stay under total ($10k) - including honeymoon. We are now thinking it will be more like $12.5k but we are 3 months out still and haven't bought the decor/flowers and don't have our final count for the caterer so that could go up or down a little. It's one of those things where I'm super excited about the wedding and marrying the LOML but if you would've told us going in that it would end up costing this much, we probably would've just eloped - too far in to back out now!

We are under control. We set a budget and no matter what we are sticking to it, even if that means we need to cut some people to keep our budget in tact.

Extremely true. We started this venture thinking we wanted to spend $1,000 max. We started planning and realized that really only $5,000 was realistic for what we wanted. Then we started putting down deposits and figuring out the day and suddenly, $1,000 had gone to $8,000. That's where we've stopped and we are only 18 days away but holy cow was this wedding more than I wanted/expected. But we don't mind. Our families helped a lot and we can afford it, it's just crazy how much little stuff adds up even when you DIY it!

False, our budget is kind of a flexible thing though. We just know we want to keep spending on the low end.

True budget was 10k but guest count went up from 150 to 200 so looking more like 15k to 20k.

I'm so glad I found this thread....We have definitely gone over. 😳 Things I didn't think I would care about I do. I am having a destination wedding and really want to take care of the guest while they're here. It's gotten a little crazy. Lol

We are right on track with budget, actually a little under (which makes me soo happy!!). Doing a lot of DIY things & keeping things simple has helped tons!

True. We figured out our obvious biggest expense is reception/dinner. With dress, tux, decor (so far), invites, photographer, DJ with photobooth, string trio, chair rental, and ceremony rental we are coming in about $16,000, give or take on reception- this is estimating 400 guests. Both parents are helping out.

Considering the fact that we paid 75% of our supposed budget on the venue, I'm pretty sure we will be over budget. Still need to book photographer, DJ, caterer, flowers, wedding cake, and limo (just to take me, my girls, and my mom to the ceremony). I'm hoping to keep it under $9k.

More or less I think we will be over budget. We were initially hoping for around $15,000 but I think we will be over but not by much.

    False for two reasons.

    1) Nothing has been bought yet,

    2) We've yet to set a budget. Smiley xd

My estimations are slightly over budget because I don't realistically know what I'm going to spend yet for flowers, hair and makeup, decor, pro or non-pro DJ, etc. So I'm trying to add a little cushion to everything in the budget. Plus also thinking about tips... But I hope in the end we can actually stay under.
