I wish I never bought a wedding planner binder

I was suckered in when I first got engaged went down to Barnes & Noble and purchased one of those fancy pink wedding binders. Sure there's a lot of good information in it but I find looking on here to be more "real" with information that everybody on here is going through. I've been adding my own divider tabs and and moving around pages or taking some out. I'm finding that I took out almost of the information pages that came with. I wish I would have started out with a cheap empty binder and filled it with information that fits my wedding. I'm ok with the binder now that I've made it my own. Has anybody else purchased the binder and didn't end up using it?

A friend put together a binder for me when I got engaged. It has pockets with labels like venue, flowers, ceremony. I have put the printed out contracts in the pockets. But I am an excel junkie, so almost everything is laid out in different spreadsheets.

I started with a black binder and added images. It was fun at first. Then I changed over to a themb drive. Way easier and more portable. Smiley smile Everything was in one place.

I started to buy a binder but then I just made my own from information I gathered on line and various vendors before I made my final choices. I put a STD on the front, personalized dividers for things that were specific to our wedding. Name and wedding date on top cover.

Ok, so I'm a little bit a of a control and organizer freak LOL I'll admit it, not ashamed or in denial Smiley winking

So as soon as I started the planning of this fiasco, I mean wedding, I bought a 2" binder and tabs. I didn't really buy the wedding one, I just customized a regular $1 binder lol I even added a nice little pic in the front with our colors and items I love like a similar dress (not the actual one so FH doesn't see it), wedding bands, flower bouquet, etc.

I do use mine a lot and it's actually packed with all the information of our wedding planning...I love it, but then again, I am an organizer freak Smiley winking

I made my own. I use it all the time. It has any and everything wedding related in it. All in one place. I just used it last night to document which guests I sent Save the Dates to yesterday. It definitely comes in handy for me.

Amy V you crack me up. I LOOK for your posts... like Where's Waldo.

Also, I think of you every time I see the new Geico piggy commercial where his car breaks down while he's on a date... FRUIT ninjaaaaas!

Anyway... I bought a pretty binder from Zazzle that I love.... except... I flubbed up the writing on the back. What I'm going to have on my wedding cake topper is "You hold the key to my heart as I hold the key to yours, for today, we are as one."

My binder says "You hold the key to my heart as you hold the key to mine." I figure our kids can laugh at it when they're old enough to read.

I set it up the way *I* want it set up and keep my notes in it, etc. I am SOOOOOO not doing this wedding the "proper" way and an expensive, pre-fab binder is going to be useless.

I had no idea wedding binders existed when I got engaged. But I was so overwhelemed by planning that I created my owned. Everyone thought it was genius. I decided to write an eBook about how to make one without wasting $30 on a pre-made binder at Barnes and Noble that is not personalized for your wedding. It is on Amazon now, called "How to Create the Ultimate Wedding Planning Binder - And Other Helpful Wedding Planning Tips." Wedding veterans (like me!) - you guys should review it and see what I am missing that helped you when planning your wedding. I love criticism! And if you know anyone who is engaged and wants to make one, you should pass the info onto them. If you have an Amazon Prime account, you can check it out for free =)

I am in grad school and planning my wedding. I am going to be putting together a wedding binder. I will have to keep it separate from my school stuff.
