Just Said Yes April 2011

I was just told my dress is coming after my wedding date HELP!

alex, on March 22, 2011 at 11:38 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 27

My wedding is on April 30th, just about 30 days from now. I recently called the bridal store I purchased my gown from and asked why my gown hasn't arrived as it was supposed to have arrived the first week of March. The first couple times they said..well it should be any day now..finally yesterday I called, the manager looked up the status and said "umm ohhh it looks like its shipping really close to your wedding date.." Turns out, its being shipped out in may. So my question is does any one know of a store that carries in stock wedding gowns? I dont know whats going to happen with the one i ordered!

GGGrrrrrr... any chance you fit in the store's sample dress? I wonder if they can give you the sample dress they have in the store - have them clean it and fix any loose bead work.... Did you order in time and they are just too slow? I would demand some kind of money back for this.... they need a rush order, and to do your alterations for free!

I wish you the best of luck. You can always shop David's and House of Brides to buy the dresses in the store - right off the rack.

    good luck!

Whoa. I would be throwing a FIT! That store needs to pay whatever rush fees needed to get your dress to you ON TIME! And, not only that, but in time to do alterations!

Barring that, they need to refund you NOW, so you can go find a dress of the rack. AA and DB will both have some, and you can look for sample sales, those dresses will also be for sale. Man, I would be super pissed....

    Best of luck to you!

OMG... I would be cussing me some people out! I'm with Analy.. they either better be paying rush fees or they should let you find a dress in their store that is the same price as the one you ordered. I'm sorry this is happening to you.

Ummm, I second Analy's response! Get your refund ASAP and then let them know how unprofessional they are!!! I have also heard that House of Brides will sell you dresses off the rack. This is horrible, sorry to hear this! I'm hoping this all works out for you!!!

I think this would be the time i would turn into bridezilla .... I think i agree with every one else but I would be down there in person demanding something be done about this ... this second you need your dress for your day and they better fit the bill to get it to you ... with what ever money you paid for your dress they better get their heads out of their asses and do something for you ... i am so sorry you have to deal with this hun.

Ditto all of the above posts! Get your money back! I went to David's Bridal in January and walked out with my dress, so possibly try there! The DB is extremely helpful and would be able to do alterations for you as well before your wedding date!

Oh, and I ordered back in January so I definetly ordered ontime , what happened I guess is whoever put the order into the system just put the wrong arrival date for the dress.

January-April actually is NOT a very long time...I'm surprised they led you to believe that it would come in March with no problem.

That being said, I do believe this is the moment that I would go apeshit. Do you have a contract that you signed when you ordered the dress? Did they tell your bridesmaid that they would place a rush on the dress order? Have you spoken to the manager/store owner yet?

I'd calmly and rationally go into the salon. Have the manager call the manufacturer and try to do a rush order so it gets here in time. If they cannot make it happen, then you what they intend to do- either sell you the sample size at a discount or give you a full refund now.

You ordered your dress in January. Many dresses take 6-8 months to come in. The salon should have ensured they could have your dress by your wedding date before taking your deposit.

But going apeshit on them at first isn't going to help. Your goal is to get them to work with you- and pissing them off isn't going to help. Give them the opportunity to correct it, and if they don't even try- then you go apeshit.

I would be throwing more than a fit, this store needs to get your dress there ASAP. Or definitely give your money back they told you that your dress would be there at a certain time it is there responsibility to haveit before your wedding day. I would go and talk to a manager, the owner or if its a chain there corporate office because someone will be doing something to get my dress there.

I agree with meghan on this one. I would see if they can rush the dress and if not they need to give you a refund asap.

Oh my!!!! I would be soooooo pissed!!!! I hope you can get your dress if the store can't fix this mess I would try to go to a chain store like DB like other girls said and then deal with them, the important thing now is for you to get a dress. I would even go to the extreme of borrowing one from a friend if necessary!

That's crazy/so unprofessional of them, when they promised it to you in March. Did you pay in full for the dress, or just make a deposit? Get your $ back now and go elsewhere- don't forget you'll need to allot time for alterations, delivery aside. Smiley sad So sorry to hear you're going through this! Keep us posted.

I would be throwing a calm, but intense fit right now. You need to tell them that now isnt the time for 'Im Sorry" and "maybe", now is the time to fix this. Honestly January was 'late' to order, however they should have told you this!
