I want to sue my wedding photographer

L Cruz, on July 10, 2013 at 11:19 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 20

I hired a photographer for my wedding back in September of last year. I still have not received my albums that I paid for [3] . I have tried calling, texting, emailing, posting on his facebook/twitter and nothing Smiley sad

I am thinking of taking him to court. Does anyone have any suggestions? I honestly don't know what else to do .

PLEASE HELP

Sometimes threatening legal action is enough.

I agree with #1Wife about catching him in person. However, don't do anything stupid that would lead to him suing you.

Small claims court may recommend you send him a certified letter first. That way there's proof that you contacted him since he'll have to sign for it.

Doesn't have an office. There is an address on the contract, but I looked it up and it seems like its a house.

What does your contract say? Mine says he will have pictures edited for my review within 30 business days. And once I have the layout of my album settled - he will have the ablum ready in another 30 business days.

I agree with # 1Wife. Go to his office. Then if that does not work I would take him to court.

Don't go to the house... send a certified letter. You don't want to get sued for harassment or anything, be cautious.

Get a lawyer to write a certified letter first. Sometimes that is enough.

Also, I suggest you delete this thread as he may attempt to counter-sue you for defamation.

    Yup I am with Paris.

This happened tome with my Epics. I threatened legal action on the photographer and she had my pics within a few days after that. But I was not the only client she did that too. She had a whole swarm of people ready to rip her hair off.

    Shawdra- lol.

His contract doesn't really say anything about the albums. However when my husband asked him how long it would take , the photographer told him 3 months. This was the last time we heard from him. It has been over 6 months now.

Showing up on someone's property and making threats regardless of the situation isn't smart... especially when you're about to take legal action. A certified letter at least shows you tried to contact them.

I didn't say show up to threaten him, I would simply knock on the door and say hello there? Remember me? You took my pictures for my wedding, you know that really important day that I had that I have no pictures of? You took them and I want them. If he doesn't give them then walk away and send him the letter. Okay lol I don't think I would be that calm... id probably flip!

I would send a certified letter to his address. That way you will know he receives it. In the letter I would give him 15 days to contact you with the books or else you will file a claim in court. Then, hire a lawyer.

Or, you can hire a lawyer first.

Or, say you have hired a lawyer in the letter...even if you havent.

Haha the flipping part Shawndra is the bad part. I would be furious and wouldn't trust myself to remain calm. The whole splotchy, red faced, rage thing.

    Good lick Liz!

Hi, I was married in December of 2012 and am having a similar problem. Would you mind sharing what you ended up doing and the outcome? I am about to start looking for a lawyer to hire.
