I tried on wedding dresses today, and....

Mrs. Boat, on February 13, 2010 at 5:59 PM Posted in Planning 0 40

....MY FRIGGIN' ARMPITS ARE FAT. Yes, ladies, I have armpit muffin top. Not attractive AT ALL. For some reason, the dresses actually made me look larger... I'm 122 lbs/5'2", and I looked like a little oompa loompa. Sad day.

Does anyone know what kind of exercises are good for getting rid of armpit fat? If I don't find something to do about it, I may just change the whole wedding for it to be a winter wedding that way I can wear a friggin' jacket. LOL.

I'll post pics of the dresses once I find out how to do it... Smiley smile

Maybe the samples were just small. i'm sure you'll look great (and armpit muffin-less) when the dress is fit to you.

I'm thinking it was maybe the bridal bra the consultant put me it... my tatas were basically a shelf for my chin to rest on LOL

Yeah that would probably do it. Just get a nice bustier or a good bra you like and then go again. It'll make you feel much more comfortable. I'm the same height as you and I weigh a bit more and I didn't have armpit muffins so I definitely think you just need better fit of bra/etc.

The have armpit fat tape. yes its true. i looked into this. haha. also, they have new styles out for strapless dresses that instead of being cut straight cross they come up to a slight point so it hides armpit fat a bit. so funny u mentioned that, that was one of the first things i said to the lady at the dress shop, i want no armpit jiggle. LOL

Kaitlin- don't worry! It was probably just the bra. The thing went all the way down to my waist, and on top of that, I had to wear the pettycoat... so I felt like a sausage in a backbrace. Then I got into the dresses and got even more tight and perked up. Most of them were confortable tho Smiley smile

Melissa- I'll be sure to buy a whole box of that tape!!!!

LMBO! "Sausage in a backbrace" that is awesome! When I tried on my dress to show my Matron OH she looked at my back and said "You've got 3 @$$es back there, the real deal and two at each arm" I'm doing what I can to get rid of them but I look at it this way, my FH loves me for who I am not if I have 3 dairy-rears on my back side.

@Melissa where did you find this anti-arm fat tape?

Ok so my FH, Jason, is totally gung ho on working out... me not so much, ...however this is what he suggested to work that "muffin" off. rapid upper body and arm movements... ti bo. thanks for that jason!

anyways.. you know that work out machine that makes you bend ur arms like barbie in front of you so your pushing it together elbows towards eachother? lol yeah that butterfly thing. try that. if you dont have one availiable to you go with a girlfriend who has a gym at her apt. no worries lady you will be fine!

    122 lbs and complaining lol

LOL I found the solution. Push ups and lots of them combined with cardio. Results in a few weeks. I hope this helps. I also do 30 day shred by Jullian Michaels. It kills but it works! :o)

Danyallen-its not just you! Certain types of dresses and bras will give any girl armpit fat. Try a sweetheart neckline they usually help :-) Also crumb catcher necklines completely eliminate it.

That is completely normal. I would say that MOST ladies have that issue. It's all about the cut and fit of the dress. If you find the right dress and it is tailored to fit properly, plus you have the right undergarments on.. you will minimize your bulge (trust me, I know the pain!). The biggest thing to remember though is that most strapless dresses are prone to this problem. Moving around, dancing, etc, you will probably get a tiny bit of pudge, even if it's minimal. It's just the nature of the beast. I am sure you will feel like a million bucks once you're in your perfect dress. As far as exercises to help this area.. Push ups! Lots of them.. Smiley smile

I've been trying not to laugh, but some of the answers were too cute. I have a solution for you - first, you have to have the right undergarment, if you don't everything will look crazy. If you have heard of the Body Magic system - trust me, it works. The other thing is if the dress is designed for someone taller (i.e. over 5'4) then you will have issues. Try to look at something that will make you look taller and have a flowing fit - A line and Empire waists are good for elongating your look. Need Body Magic - call me.

I like corset tops. I am shorter only 5'3 and at 176 lbs a little over weight. The only dresses that looked right on top were corset tops plus I am umm lets use busty LOL. I use at least a DDD cup or more.

I'll be sure to start doing "something" about it... someday LOL. I have the WORST will power in the world when it comes to going to the gym, or refusing a burger and fries/ice cream/girl scout cookies/you name it.

I'll try to post pics of me in the dress... give me a couple hours to try and figure it out LOL
