Hi guys,

I'm new here, but I've done a little research through the forums and see that many people are split (but most lean towards avoiding them all together) on honeymoon fund registries like Honeyfund, Zola, etc.

I understand the tackiness of asking for money, and see where people are coming from when they say that there are more subtle ways of signaling you could use cash more than gifts (not to mention those pesky fees the sites charge).

However, one thing I never saw people bring up is security. I know the chances are small, but there is a concern that a "wedding crasher" or desperate/dishonest guest could walk off with the pile of cards. When you go with one of the online cash registries and set up a fund, I feel like it cuts down on that chance. (short continuation below)...

How is it ridiculous? You go to a wedding and give $200 in a card. The bartender decides that they weren't tipped enough or whatever and snags your card. How would the bride and groom know that you even gave a gift? One card can easily go missing.

The fact that this is concerning to any of you means its time to rethink your guest list.

jordyn- Have you been to a wedding? They are usually closed boxes in visible sight. I really don't think theft is that common.

Jordyn - That's why you spend money to hire the right vendors.

@TealWedding - that processing fee is their profit. They are charging your guests.

Also, Jordyn you wont have bartenders to worry about stealing the cards. Another pro of a dry wedding I suppose.

So a general idea of security and what happens at a typical wedding with a bartender and a hypothetical gift give you all the reason to attack my wedding? Classy...

Or you could get a locking card box and put it away at the begining of the reception.

@Jordyn: As I said realized in this post, that's what locking card boxes are for.

@Jordyn the adverb is differently and your ideas are offensive.

I love how it's always the people who cry bully that actually stoop to the bullying /personal attack tactics.

To answer the question, I'm engaged because I'm with someone who understands the importance of how to treat others and host others, and who cares as much about the people in our lives as I do.

@Jordyn - 1. Flagged for name calling. 2. Do you even know what classy means? 3. Are you even engaged?

    There's that word...bullies.

Do you even know what that word means, Jordyn?

Here let me do you a favor and google that definition for you:

    verb

    gerund or present participle: bullying

use superior strength or influence to intimidate (someone), typically to force him or her to do what one wants.

"a local man was bullied into helping them"

synonyms: persecute, oppress, tyrannize, browbeat, harass, torment, intimidate, strong-arm, dominate

Literally no one is doing this to you. We do not take that term lightly here.
