i impulse bought my wedding dress and dont know what to do!

I really hope someone can share some insight on this one. Long story short I bought a beatiful wedding dress this past saturday and now totally regret it. It is definitly NOT the dress i want to wear on my wedding day. I bought it from an upscale boutique in westport CT and had to put 60% down and sign a contract, it is making me sick to my stomach. I do not want ther dress nor did I like any of the other dresses I tried on in the store that were in my price range. im going to the store tomorrow to see if there is any way I can cancel the order (even though the order has already been placed) Has anyone had a situation like this? What did you do? Any advice??? HELP PLEASE

Why did you buy it? You must have liked it to place a deposit. If there's no way to get your money back you can try to sell it and find a new one.

Only thing I can say is check your contract! I know when I signed my "Terms of Purchase" it boldly says..."NO REFUNDS, EXCHANGES, RETURNS OR STORE CREDIT!" I fell in love the moment I stepped in the dress....but went back 3 times, after several other stores, before I could commit!

Maybe if (and that's a BIG if), they haven't actually placed the order yet, you can call FIRST thing in the morn. and see about canceling it...but chances are you're locked in or will at least lose your deposit :-/ Unfortunately these businesses are about making money...no if, ands, or buts, about it!

I know some places can be rather pushy about making a decision the first time. I was offered 10% off if I bought a dress the first time in.

I think sales tactics like that can be unfortunate- no bride should feel pressured to choose her dress in a rush, or without shopping around. Maybe it's easy for some girls, but even when I ended up buying the first dress I tried on, it was after 3 appointments and dozens of dresses.

If you can't cancel the order, try the dress on again. A few days after I bought my dress, I was looking at the picture and had a terrible anxiety attack. It didn't seem like a dress I would want, had nothing to do with what I had in mind, it was too fussy, etc.

I ran back to the salon, they put me back into the dress, and I loved it again! Even though it's not exactly what I had in mind, I somehow love it when I wear it. It's a big purchase and it's a lot of pressure, so perhaps it would make you feel better to try it on again. As tach123 said, you must have liked something about it.

I did that.. I loved it in the store and then over the next 3 days I began panicking because it wasn't the right dress for me.. I still have it, I'm too lazy to work on selling it, but I do plan to sell it at some point to TRY to recover some of my losses.. I felt so stupid! But realistically, we aren't the only brides in the world that have done this and it's really not the end of the world. I found my new dress online for $99 and couldn't be happier. Don't stress too much over it, just see what you can do about it and if there isn't much you can do about it, don't worry too much.

I do believe you legally have 3 business days to back out of a business transaction. I do not know if that applies to purchases. That would mean if they were not open for business on Sunday you should be able to get out of it no later than Wednesday
