I did not research enough..and now I am stuck :( Anyone used these Jars and know how many oz?

Gee O. aka Happily Wifed Up, on May 24, 2012 at 10:51 AM Posted in Planning 0 47

I should have done more research before I decided on candies in a jar at my wedding. I mean I could have gotten cheaper option on other cases for the candy and not a jar! Also I should have researched on the prices of candies first before even coming up with this idea and now I am stuck cuz the candies i have been seeing, trying to fill up this jar will cost way over my budget. So now i really have no idea what to do. Clearly I cant return the jars back but I guess i can fill the jars with some other kind of candy?

Any other idea what to fill the jars with that isnt to pricey? I know it has to be candy cuz the jar is obviously a candy jar but perhaps another type of candy that I havent considered at?

See the pic of my silly jar Smiley sad

Thanks

Nothing really, the most I have is the fact that it is based on the definition of Love from the bible, so tables are named with that, the music we walk into has the words. i guess thats the most "themed" idea we have.

They are cute but maybe you can cut back on the type of candy that can fill the jars or maybe not fill all of them up to the top.

The almonds that are inside are usually cheap and on the biggers side so you wouldn't need as many. They sell them at Michales and ACMoore- and they ALWAYS have 40-50% off coupons. Also- find a friend w/ a BJ's or Cosco membership.

What kind of candy were you originally planning on filling them with? How big are the jars? They look pretty small...do you know how many oz they are? I would think you should be able to get a couple of those big jumbo bags of candies at Costco or something like that and fill them up for not too much.

M&M's in bulk from Costco may work. But they are multicolored, so it may not go with your color scheme. Let me think on this.

Check it out- you can buy 10 lb/5 lb, etc bags of candy and fill them! I noticed a 10 lb bag of jelly belly jelly beans for $80 (which I assume is A LOT Of jelly beans- since they're small/light) , they have all different prices/colors/sizes of jordan almonds, candy hearts, mints

Maybe go to the store and buy i small bag of a particular candy and see about how many you would need to fill one jar and then you can go from there! You can do it!!!

Did not specify the oz, all it specifies was the measurement: Measures 2 ¾" x 1 ¾" Does that help you Katie to estimate better? I have never been to costco so I dont know what jumbo bags you refer to but is it something you think I can see online to get a better idea?

Gumballs and oriental trading were actually the ones I checked. Was not impressed with the prices in total.

Would it look awful if i filled them up with hershey's kisses? i am thinking maximum that will fit in will be about 7, and at the candywarehouse Rachael suggested, I see 100 kisses for $10. yay or Nay?

That does seem pretty small...I wouldn't think it would take too much to fill them up. Costco is a club store. I don't think you can buy stuff on their website. Do you have any club stores where you're at? Sam's Club, maybe? I was thinking M&Ms too if you're not worried about them being multicolored. There are a few websites like the one Rachel suggested that you can order candy from. I hear some have pretty good prices!

I am guessing they are for favors?? Why not buy some kind of filler (like that easter grass for example) and then you can use less candy!!
