I should have done more research before I decided on candies in a jar at my wedding. I mean I could have gotten cheaper option on other cases for the candy and not a jar! Also I should have researched on the prices of candies first before even coming up with this idea and now I am stuck cuz the candies i have been seeing, trying to fill up this jar will cost way over my budget. So now i really have no idea what to do. Clearly I cant return the jars back but I guess i can fill the jars with some other kind of candy?

Any other idea what to fill the jars with that isnt to pricey? I know it has to be candy cuz the jar is obviously a candy jar but perhaps another type of candy that I havent considered at?

See the pic of my silly jar Smiley sad

Thanks

We are using these jars too! we're filling our with m&ms in our colors. The m&m website can match almost any color, and they seem pretty affordable Smiley smile we did a trial with the small bags from AC Moore (6oz each). i was able to do 4 (and a half) jars with our colors (blue purple black) from those small bags, with a few left over (hence the half jar). Since we're ordering 5lb bags, i think we'll be ok.. and we're filling 120-140 of them.

like some of the other ladies said, just don't fill them to the top and that should help too Smiley smile

I didn't read all of the other posts so I'm sorry if this is redundant -

Easter grass or the stringy stuff that you put in gift bags... I have monsterous sized candy buffet vases and that's what I'm using so it doesn't look half empty. :-)

Jackiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!! You have these jars too? 5lbs of M&Ms were enough for 120 jars??? How much did it come up to? and how filled up were they???

We ordered Sixlets from Gumball.com to fill the jars we purchased. I used M&Ms to fill a jar and weigh what we think we'd need and then did the math to multiply that and figure out how much candy to order. We wanted to use certain colors and ordering real M&Ms were way too expensive for us. We are trying to do 136 jars and I ordered 60 lbs of Sixlets (estimating 7 oz of candy for each). It was about $265 after finding a coupon code. A lot more affordable than ordering 60 lbs from M&M.

I didn't read all the way through but I see some of the things I would suggest... basically though, by the pound, chocolate and things with chocolate and/or nuts will be more expensive than just sugar (e.g., jelly beans) and you don't have to have jelly bellies.. you can get something less expensive...

BJ's, Costco, Sams Club and Walmart... oh and even Kmart... check their prices and experiment...
