Hey everyone! How much is your wedding dress? Where did you find it? Trying to understand the average price women spend and where they found THE dress so I can know what is reasonable when I’m in the stores in a few weeks wish my mom☺️ Thanks so much for commenting!

Thank you soooo much for posting this. This is my budget ideally. I bumped it to 500 just in case but I was getting very terrified reading most prices since I just don't have the wiggle room and am too nervous for the order online route.
It all depends how much you are comfortable spending on one. I had budgeted $1000 for mine. Luckily one of our shops in town the owner was retiring and all the dresses in the shop were on sale. My dress was $2400 originally (so I wouldn't have even looked at it) but was on sale for $799. On top of the dress I bought a veil and belt and it brought it right to where I originally saw myself for my dress. I know a ton of people have already said it but set a budget and DO NOT try on dresses over that number.
We had a budget of 500 but I knew I wasn't going to buy a dress until I had at least tried the 99 dollar dresses. I made a list of the ones advertised as part of the sale then asked the lady to bring what she could in my size off the list. The one I bought is in whisper pink but if I wanted to get it in white it would have been 600 bucks. Pink is my favorite color so I went with it! Be flexible, and it will happen. Happy dress hunting.
Daughter chose a Rebecca Ingram gown at a small boutique in So Cal. Including tax, it was under $1200. Her second choice, at David's, would have been just under $1000. The dress just came in, and fits perfectly. Likely the only alteration will be the bustle. She's found possible veil, hair ornament, and slip options online, probably for less than $200 total. Her budget was $2000 for everything, and it looks like she should be under by possibly ~$500.
Y'all aren't going to believe me...I spent, drumrol please, TWENTY BUCKS! Here's the story:I tried on a dress at Goodwill on a Monday and it fit but I wasn't sold on buying a dress at a chain 2nd hand store. I left the dress in the dressing room and went home. On Friday my mom and I were talking and I told her about the dress, sent her photos and she demanded I go back and see if it was still there. The store is only 2 blocks from my home so I quickly rode down there to see if it was still available. I went back to where they had it hanging and unfortunately it was gone! I asked the manager if it was still available and he told me if it wasn't on the sales floor it was GONE sorry. Feeling devastated my mom told me to keep looking and maybe try another thrift store. On my way out the door however I look to my right to the stockroom and Boom there was my dress! I asked the manager to get it for me and he asks did I see a tag on it. I hadn't, so I asked could I pay 20 bucks for it? Without hesitation he balls it up and hands the dress to me. I quickly paid for the dress and ran out of the store to go home. My mom and I were giggling like school girls the whole Way! It only need a light cleaning since there isn't much on it at all, and I want to bring it in a bit since I lost some weight since I got it.
Right around $1200 with tax. My mom would let me see the final total. Bought a fun Stella York ball groom at Tie the Knot boutique. Wisconsin bride here. Location can dictate pricing and fashion of dress options.

First dress was $300 from Bridal Consignment. Changed my mind and second dress was $60 off Amazon. No regrets. People complimented me on how expensive my dress looked!!!
Mine was $2100 . I know. A lot. But my mom and stepdad (now separated) each wanted to help, as FH and I are paying for the wedding ourselves. So my mom discussed a budget with our consultants beforehand, and I wasn't allowed to look at prices. So they each pitched in about half, and I covered the rest and will pay for my alterations.
Found mine at a small bridal shop that sells discontinued & sample dresses. Retail: $1,800+ (Maggie Sottero)
Her price: $600
Paid $300+tx (Black Friday sale)
(this was after going to DB and finding a dress I really liked except there was a "but" I couldn't explain... and it wasn't just the fact I didn't want to spend $1000+ on a DB dress!)

This dress is beautiful and unique .. but you have to give it back afterwards ?
It's a Mori Lee gown. Bought it in NJ and didn't have to pay taxes lol. It was 1100, which I was ecstatic about considering I saw the dress on Pinterest and couldn't find the price online at the time.
Because of all the nonsense about liability the shop convinced my mother that they do the alterations at another 400. The bustle is an additional 150. If I bought a belt elsewhere they would refuse to sew it in so I found one on Etsy that has a clasp for like 50 and saved close to 400 that way (the boutique was on some other ish charging 450 for a dang belt).

My budget was $1000 but wanted to stay closer to the $500-700 range in order to account for alteration costs. I ended up finding a dress off the rack for $750 with tax that was originally $1800. The only place I need alterations is the length though, so it will be less than I budgeted for.
I was hoping to keep mine under $1500 including alterations. I ended up getting one for $1529 and then making some custom changes to it... making it $1880 before alterations.
