How much are you girls paying for your alterations and what would you recommend me to do, because the dress with alterations is costing almost $3,000 ugh!!

Mine was $150 for a 3 point bustle and letting it out an inch. I definitely recommend getting a seamstress that specializes in bridal, but not necessarily associated with a bridal salon

Mine was capped at 440 for 5 (or maybe 7?) point bustle, hem, adding cups and taking dress in

My initial alterations were less than $500, but there are still a couple things that need to be done. I had my alterations done in Japan and there were things they were not comfortable doing. I have a tailor in Nashville that will finish the hem and bustle before the wedding. She didn't quote me any price, but I am anticipating paying her around $150.

$710 for mine, not including bustle. With bustle it would have been $300. At my wedding I did have to carry my train, and thankfully it wasn't damaged from the times I just let t drag *insert relief face emoji*

ETA: I had it hemmed, taken in at the bust, let out at the waist (if only it was opposite lol), added a modesty piece in the back, and attached the sash.

I was quotes about $550 for alterations. Definitely get the bustle, you don't want people stepping all over your train during your reception.

I paid $25 but all she did was cut the length and bustle it for me.

My dress was 600. All I needed was a hem and a 4 point bustle. The hem was 100 and 10 dollars for each bustle. I went to a local seamstress and she was awesome.

Mine was 125, including her making a veil, adding a bustle and hemming it. However she was a lady that works out of her house in her spare time. She did all of my prom dresses so I trusted her work. If you could get someone that does it on the side you trust it'll be a lot cheaper

I found an amazing lady who does it on the side. She has worked as a seamstress for over 20 years but now manages a store. She does alterations in her home at discounted rates because she just enjoys it. I found her on fb and did a ton of research on her first. But she is charging me $190 for everything, including sewing together both of my petticoats, adding cups, putting in a corset, and a bustle. I think if you had more time; it would be worth h looking for someone like that. But I think at this point in the game, you've gotta go with what you can.

@trinette me too!! I ended up buying the perfect dress as apart of the national bridal sale so it was technically off the rack and is too large for me! I will definitely have to have it taken in and this has me worried! but i got a great deal on it and have plenty of time to save up!

$250 for the bust to be taken in and a clasp added. Don't feel like it's a rip off. Its a necessary evil. I only expected to pay $150 because the dress was $170
