How much does a honeymoon cost?

Bride2Be, on December 19, 2012 at 3:18 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 19

What is the average price of a honeymoon? Once again, I think I budgeted too low.

Thanks!

It all depends on what you are doing. Some people do low key and others do a huge things. Mine will be about $3000 I think and that is just airfare and activities in hawaii. A friend paid for our hotels for the trip otherwise we would have been closer to $5000.

It depends on a lot of variables. Where are you going? How long is your stay? etc. If you tell me where I can give you a range. Mine is 6k for St.Lucia Sandals for 6 days.

    R. Anita is right, it really depends on where you are planning to go, length of stay, activities, etc. We are spending a week in Montego Bay, Jamaica at an all-inclusive hotel. Total for hotel (food/drinks and fun included) and airfare is $4200.

We first priced the trip through my travel agent and it was too high. I priced the exact same trip through Expedia and our travel agent matched the price. Not only did we save $800 by getting her to match the price but we were able to make a deposit now and pay the balance a month before the trip. If we booked through Expedia we would be on the hook for the whole amount upfront. Something to consider when shopping around Smiley smile

As the other ladies said, it depends on where you want to go. For about $3K in September, u can do a 7 day all inclusive, including air fare to a resort in the Riviera Maya or Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Because it is a special ocassion and hurricane season, I would only consider using a travel agent.

Some cruises can be far less expensive, while a European cruise can be pricey.

Naturally, visiting a destination that does not have all inclusives could be more costly.

Try looking weekly on Groupon or Living Social. I have seen many great deals on there. Ours will be Next October and I have been stalking those websites to try and find a good deal for ours. Good Luck

I agree with the ladies, it does depend on what your doing where you want to go, mine is ticked up to around $7000 with the cruise and airfare and our hotel after the cruise, we have not put any excursions to it yet... figure out where you want to go and what kind of budget you have for your honeymoon and start looking at the best deals, ours it was hands down we wanted to go to Hawaii...FH has been to Maui but none of the other islands and me I've never been to Hawaii...excited about going!!!

Ours will be about $3K or below. Our hotel was about $1200 - which was for 3 different hotels, 2 nights each - one being on the higher end, for the cities of Memphis, Nashville and Louisville. I think we can manage not spending more that $1800 in 6 days on "other".

We are going to Jamaica for 6 nights for just under $3,000 although I'm hoping I can use Vicki's trick with our travel agent and tell him that expedia quoted us a certain price for 7 nights ($3200) and maybe he can work that out for us. But either way- around $3,000!

We spent $4,800 for all inclusive hotel & airfare to Cancun for 10 days. We are budgeting around $1,200 to spend while we are there for excursions/incidentals. Bottom line amount will be $6k.

I think it can be as cheap or expensive as you make it.

Mine is $2000, and that includes two nights at a hotel in San Antonio, TX, dinners on the Riverwalk, fuel to get there and back, admission for two to Seaworld, and fuel to make a side trip to South Padre Island on our way back.

Thanks everyone. Originally we planned for Hawaii, but the time of year is very expensive since it's their busy season. But, because it's also hurricane season my options are limited because I don't want to risk the Caribbean. Hawaii will be about 5k it sounds about average for what many of you are doing so I don't feel as bad. Thanks!!

Hawaii can be reasonable if you are flexible with where you stay. There are some very nice condos on the beach, while they don't give you 5-star luxury, will give you clean, comfortable rooms, and lovely surroundings. Definitely work with a travel agent, because, as Vicki C said, you'll be able to put down a deposit and pay the balance a month or two before you travel. And remember that using a travel agent for honeymoon planning doesn't cost you anything!

We're at $2k for two weeks in Cabo but that doesn't include spending money. Also we used a timeshare so tht saved us some money. Regular rates for the resort started at $1698 + $1400 for airfare.

Ours is going to be around $2200 for the cruise and plane tickets to get there. But we still have to pay for any alcohol and other things we want while there.

I read that average honeymoon in 2011 was 5K, however, many people do a nice honeymoon for much less. It all depends on your budget and what you can afford. Decide that first, and then plan your trip Smiley smile

We are going to Rome, Florence & Venice for 9 days 3/3/3 and a day for air.

We booked amazing hotels and all include breakfast. We are paying about $4200

Then obviously we will be bringing money for food, shopping, museums & good wine.
