A friend from my college in majoring in photography and she has done pictures for quite a few weddings. I have seen her pictures and they look great! I talked to her about photographing my wedding and she said she would give me the 'friend price' of $800 which includes pics before the ceremony, after ceremony, dinner/reception, and up to the dances. Then she will give me a disk and help me with choosing print. This seems like a great price to me, but I'm not sure what the average is. I'm also not sure what additional cost to expect for the prints.

We are also using a friend, and he is giving us a good price. We are paying $2000 for unlimited photos, engagement shoot, and CDs/rights to the photos. He will also create our books for us at cost. My cousin paid $6000 for her photo/video and hated everything. I feel like we made a good choice Smiley smile

@2200 for all day with 2 photographers, photo booth and engagement session and it includes all the rights and copies of the photos on a dvd.

Prices range alot but from what I learned, most under $1000 are not worth it. Before you agree with it, meet with a couple others to get the vibe- don't settle for a friend to save a few bucks- photography is the one aspect you will still have 10 years down the line- so save money elsewhere. Also, has your friend ever done a wedding before? There is a flow a photographer needs to have for it to run smoothly. They can be the person moving things along on time. And whatever you do get a contract with every detail about what they promise you to avoid any problems down the line.

We are using FH friend - he's charging us 2K and this includes all day coverage....he did offer engagement photos but we took so many photos on our cruise last year we said we don't need that.....and rights to all photos on a CD after he edits them....to me that was a fair price considering how much other people are paying. Definitely have a signed contract so there is no miscommunication.

$750 for the photographer and assitant for 4.5 hrs in Upstate NY....but I will definitely be increasing the amount of time I have her for, as I don't want to feel rushed to get pics done the day of....so I'm looking to spend $11-1200 for the 6.5/7 hours. The price includes the photos on a CD and all print rights. I found my photographer (who comes with high reviews) here on WW Smiley smile

If she is good and is willing to do it and you feel comfortable with having a friend do it, then go for it! but please still have an agreement and make sure you write down you paid her, I know a lot of people who used a "friend" and things got messy as for the price $800 is a good price, defiantly would ask for a CD with all the prints and maybe ask to throw in a e-session? Smiley smile

The package I'm looking at is - $3000 for 8 hours continuous coverage (1 photographer)

DVD of all edited high-res photos (minimum 400 pics) Private online gallery for downloading + sharing and add an e-session for $250.

1100$ Includes some prints *don't have my contract on me so I have to double check how many* All rights to the images, all images edited, I get her for the ENTIRE day from when we are getting ready to the ceremony to the reception until everyone goes home. This price also included our engagement photo session, and there is a possibility of getting a second photographer (depends on if her friend gets booked that day or not, but it would be at no extra cost to us)
