How many of you picked out your engagement ring??

He had mine custom-made. The diamonds and the gold came from some of his family jewelry, the ruby and emeralds were new, and he had it made to resemble a Tudor rose because I'm a history nerd.

I had nothing to do with the design.

He went without me, and I had no idea that he was going to propose. He asked for my ring size, and I thought he was getting me an everyday cute ring. I should have known. He did great.

I gave mine guidelines of sorts. I told him I liked round solitaires, or even no diamond at all and get me my birthstone (emerald). So he took that into account when he choose my ring, but it wasn't EXACTLY like things I'd shown him, he saw the ring and he liked it and liked it for me. He did good :-)

I had picked out mine a couple years ago and we actually got to a point where I didn't think we were ever going to get married. Thankfully a friends sister got engaged and had a unique ring which get us talking about rings so I ended up showing FH again and voila!

He knew that I preferred white gold and my size. That was it. He went by himself and he did great!

Since I proposed to him, there wasn't a ring. So we went out that afternoon to the mall (I know, I know). We first stopped at Helzberg, no one came over to ask if we needed help so we went across the hall to Kay. Found the perfect ring.

Mine was also a total surprise! I had shown him pictures of things I liked but he picked it completely on his own! The center diamond belonged to my late grandmother.

ETA: pictures! The first 2 are with my wedding band (I can't wait to wear them together!) I love that my ring sparkles from every angle!!

FH and I had looked at pictures online, so he knew my style, but he did it all by himself . I honestly knew I would love whatever he picked out.

Below is my engagement ring and then my engagement ring with the wedding band. He proposed with both and told me that we could get them melded together and have that be my engagement ring, but I chose to forgo the added expense of an additional ring. I really love it just the way it is.

I picked mine out. FH knows how particular I am so he told me to pick out a few. I looked at over 100 and could only find one that I really liked. He took forever to propose though...about 7 months. Here is my ring with the band.

I told him a bunch of times what I liked as far as shape, halo, and fit but in the end he designed the ring and picked the center stone out himself. Was totally surprised and I absolutely love it!!

I picked mine out but he didn't pay for it then. He sent his mom to go pick it up. It was still a surprise when he proposed because I didn't know when he was going to do it, but we had always talked about getting married.

We're still looking. He proposed back in September. But I think we're gonna get one for Valentine's day. I was having a cry it our kinda bad day at work. I came home on my lunch break and was soo upset (don't remember about what any more) and he got down on one knee and proposed in our bedroom. Now we're ring shopping. And I realized I really don't like diamonds, and I realized hes super traditional and is insistent on diamonds....lol. the hunt continues.

I wish he would just pick it out sometimes, cause I know it doesn't really matter, I'd love anything he would pick for me... :-)

All I told FH was I wanted white gold and princess cut. He picked out the ring by himself.

But he was open about what he personally liked and didn't like, and he did an amazing job. I didn't go with him, and the entire engagement was a surprise. I like simple, classic, and lovely -- and he did an amazing job.

Here's mine! I didn't pick her out, but one of my besties/BMs is also good friends with FH and since she was getting engaged too, she sneakily figured out how to get me to show her rings I wanted and sent them to FH.

The only difference, as I found out picking out our bands later, is that I technically wanted 'prong' setting diamonds down the side, but I think the setting for the pave diamonds i have is beautiful and catches the light better... Plus knowing FH fell in love with this one is what makes it perfect.
