He never even took me looking to get an idea of what I wanted cause he didnt want to spoil the fact he would be proposing soon. And let me just say.. HE DID AMAZING!!! xo But it's...

Is anyone else's FH already talking about upgrading the diamond? Mine has from the time we got the ring. First he said like our 5th wedding anniversary, now he's talking more immediate future. I keep telling him the diamond I have now is fine (yes there is a flaw but you have to look really close), and let's wait until after the wedding. On the plus side since we bought from Kay we can do a trade-in with my current diamond. They will give us the cost of the ring towards a better diamond.

I told my best friend everything that I'd want in an engagement ring, I figured my FH and I's relationship would end up at this point. He was happy to have guidelines, he said that he was overwhelmed with all the choices.

We went together and picked it out. I had no idea what it would look like together though, since the stone was loose. I wanted a sapphire and he wanted to make sure I absolutely loved my ring. As soon as we saw the light yellow sapphire, it was a done deal!

    Added a pic.

@FutureMrsDCT- yes, my fiance has been saying it from the beginning. I think he's nuts, my ring is way sparklier than I ever pictures myself wearing and I don't think I'd be comfortable with an "upgrade". I had no part in picking it out, but after hearing his story about picking it out, I can't imagine having anything other than the one he looked at and said "this is perfect".

We picked mine out together. He was insanely insistent that I design it exactly how I wanted it. Here it is with the band that I just picked up today! Whoo hoo!

We picked it out together. His feeling was if he was going to invest his money in something I would wear every day, he wanted me to love it. The proposal was still a surprise.

We searched together, and I showed him my favorite with a couple other options. He ended up buying my favorite one.

We have been together for 7 yrs and getting married has never been a priority for us. Between mine, his, ours and adopteds, we have 7 kids. So, financially, getting married was not a priority.

One day, fh gathered up all of his valuable collectibles that he's been collecting since he was a kid and sold them with out telling me. They were stored so I never noticed them gone. He guessed my ring size and set off shopping on his own.

Xmas morning, I had a large box under the tree. It was full of used books. I found a piece of paper in there that said look up and he was on his knee with the ring in hand! I was shocked!

He did well. I'd likely have preferred a halo but the fact that he sacrificed a childhood collection to fund my ring (and some wedding costs - he had some dang valuable toys and such) means the world to me. I love my solitaire!

We already had an amazing jeweler who knows my taste better than my own. I had taught my FH asscher a long time ago. It was easy for him because I said it everyday for years.

We did it together and had it custom made. Correction: having it custom made. It's still not here. We've been waiting three months. We're in the throes of wedding planning and I still don't have a ring! It's driving me crazy.

FH picked it out totally on his own. We talked about it but I never really wanted to know. I have Anniversary rings & he did great! So I totally left it up to him!

P.S He used my puppy to purpose & its the only pic I have!

Mine was passed down to me in my family. Well.... It was given to him to give to me lol. If I have to wear something for the rest of my life, I'd rather have a say in it. FH isn't the best with choosing jewelry as it is lol.

ETA: We're looking into having a smaller wedding band made so I can comfortably wear it every day.

FH and I have totally different styles so we bought it together, and I then waited for him to propose (which was torture, lol. Knowing you have the perfect ring that you want but having to wait, ugh). We knew we wanted to get married and had already started telling our family to start expecting a wedding in a June 2016, so it was just waiting until he had his big moment to ask...

I'm not sure if the file is uploading right so here is a link to my instagram:

Mine was a complete surprise! FH designed it and had it hand made by his family jeweler using the white gold and diamonds from the first ring his grandpa ever gave his grandma. He even got a matching wedding band using more of his grandma's diamonds! It's so sentimental and both of our families LOVE it.

I'm sooo glad we ended up going together. all the hints I were dropping were for a specific style, and I ended up going with a different one. I thought I wanted halo but then decided to get solitaire with a more intricate band.

FH started browsing online and would ask me do you like this style? What about this? so he already knew what I liked but he picked it all on his own.

I picked it out after he went looking on his own a few times and got totally overwhelmed (and because one lady told him 6 months salary was what was "expected" wtf lady?!)

Anywho he asked me to go with him. The rings he kept pointing out were definitely my style but waaaay more bling than I'd ever want. Found one that fit me perfectly and was MUCH cheaper than what DH was looking at. I do wish he'd have picked it out on his own, but I'm glad he didn't just for money's sake alone. I'd have loved whatever he chose but I am glad what I chose was significantly cheaper than anything he would've chosen!
