How many hours open bar will your venue allow?

Danielle, on August 13, 2015 at 4:38 PM Posted in Planning 0 27

We are allowed 4, I guess there will be a break at some point and the bar will close for a bit.

How will your bar time play out?

There isn't a time limit on my bar but I do have to close it 30 min before the reception end.

The only time the bar will be closed is during dinner. It will be open for cocktail hour, and then for 4.5 hours after dinner. It'll close at 10pm.

    5 hours

The reception hours are 6-12:30, so I'm not sure how to not have alcohol for 1.5 hours

We have 4.5 hours open bar included in our package. We're paying for an addition hour, based on consumption (aka open bar for the guests, but we pay by drink) at the end of the night.

5 hours. Which is a time limit set by the state, not our venue.

No limit with my venue but my caterer will close it off either 30 minutes or an hour before the reception is over.

We had three hours plus a cocktail hour. We had wine and champagne on the tables during dinner so the bar wasn't open -- so in all total it was five hours.

Ours will be open the entire 5 hours, however, it will be a cash bar. **ducks** I know, I know....venue rules....which is dumb in my opinion. Still trying to negotiate this one. As it stands, the venue will not budge which is ridiculous because c'mon, this is Vegas after all.

@FMS they won't let you run a tab? Like the venue is requiring a cash bar if you want alcohol?

@Elizabeth. yep. :/ But I am working on it. They have bent on a few things, so hopefully, I can get him to bend on this one too.

We are only having it for 4 hours also. It will be open bar for cocktail hour, then close for dinner. The bar will reopen for 3 more hours and shut down one hour before the end of the reception.

We had a bar for our full 5 hours, closed 30 minutes before the reception ended. Our caterers package was 4 hours but we paid extra for the extra hour. There was no limit, just had to pay more for more hours.

I been to a bunch of weddings that close the bar during dinner, that could be a good option.

We had an open bar during the cocktail hour (1 hour) and during the reception for 4.5 hours so 5 1/2 hours altogether.

    Our's never ends!!

We're getting married at home in the late morning, so starting with mimosas and bloody marys and ending with a campfire in the evening where we will switch to beer and liquor.

We will have an open bar from 5-11pm.. so 6 hours.. but I am thinking that maybe it'll be closer to 5 or 5.5 hours? only due to the fact that the bartenders have to find time to eat dinner and we won't want to be serving alcohol right until the end of the reception?

I didn't think about closing during dinner hour or a little before the reception ends...

This is why I love wedding wire. I didn't think of closing for an hour during dinner. Hopefully our venue lets us do this.

Our package comes with 4 hours, we're gonna have wine service during dinner though during that hour it's not open.
