How many days off?

Mrs. Roberts, on April 4, 2011 at 1:56 PM Posted in Planning 0 38

How many days off of work did you take before your wedding? I am trying to plan my vacation time and am not sure if I should just take the Friday before off or more? What did you do?

I'm taking the week off. But mainly because I'm quitting my job and starting a new job after we get married, so we decided the week before would be my last week. It depends on how much you think you'll have to do that week. If you have a lot of people helping you and not a lot to do, then you shouldn't need too many days off. We are putting all our centerpieces together the week of and decorating everything. And since our rehearsal is earlier on Friday, I knew I wouldn't be able to get much done that day.

My wedding is on a Friday night and I am taking Wednesday-Friday off... And wont be back the whole next week because we will be on our honeymoon. But I wanted 2 days before the wedding day to have to prepare. (It is also the week of July 4th, so that Monday the 4th I will be off anyways for the holiday. So I guess I am only working Tuesday the week of my wedding) Smiley smile woo hoo!

I think it all depends on how much you have to do, my friend took one day of then the whole next week for their honeymoon. If you have alot of DIY stuff that needs to be finished up then maybe take a few days, again depending on how much you have to do.

My wedding is saturday and I plan for my last day of work to be that tuesday, since family and friends will start coming thursday for the rehearsal. Take wednesday for last minute stuff and hopefully for me and FH. After that a week for the honeymoon. this also depends if i'm still at my current job.

I took 3 days off. At that point the whole family was in town so it was actually a nice escape for me to work Smiley winking

We took off only a day before the wedding, and that was for getting the marriage license and a waiver of the usual three-day waiting period. However, we also took off the day after the wedding to drive back home, and the following two days to decorate the at-home reception space. It really just depends on how much last-minute stuff you will need to do.

My wedding is on a Saturday. I am taking a half day on Thursday and all day Friday off. I wanted to take Thursday off but my class is graduating so I have to be there. As soon as it is over I am out of there!

I work part-time, so I have no paid vacation. I only work M-Th, so I am not "taking" any time off before the wedding. I will be taking the following week off for our honeymoon.

I got married on a Saturday, and took Wed - Monday off. Wed for last minute stuff, Thursday for rehearsal, Friday spa day with girls and massage for me.

and then another 9 days off for our cruise 2 weeks later.

It depends how much time you have banked and how much you can afford to use.

Im taking the week before off since we already have Monday off for Memorial day....so might as well take the rest off! HAHA....good excuse. Plus it will help me catch up on last minute stuff and attend pampering sessions at the nail salon and spa. Then after that, im taking two weeks off the honeymoon to Alaska! :-)

So in total, Im taking three weeks off. Im burning ALL my leave for this event, but oh well! :-)

I plan to take the friday off and then the week after off (that's if we're not going on the cruise right away). If we go on the cruise right I'm taking 2 weeks off.

FH don't work on thursday, friday and saturday so he's only taking sunday and monday off (but if we go on the cruise, he'll take the entire week and probably the next one 2.

I'll only be taking the Friday before off, maybe leave a little early on Thursday for the Rehearsal. Then I'm back to work on Monday... we'll take some time off later for a Honeymoon.

I am planning to take either that Wed-Fri or Thur-Fri because Friday is our rehearsal at 3pm. I really wanted to make sure everything was together without rushing it all into one day. But I am taking the week off AFTER the honeymoon too just to take care of administrative stuff like name-change documents and also just have that time to get settled before I head back to work. So I am more concerned with taking the time off AFTER the honeymoon than before the wedding.

I'm taking a full week off before the wedding but my situation is a little different. We are getting married in Maryland where we're from, but we currently live in Idaho and we'll be driving out for the wedding. We have so much stuff that needs to go from here to there that it just worked out to be better for us. But its like a 3 day drive, and then we'll have a ton to do when we get there. I'm also taking off another week and half afterwards for our honeymoon and the drive back. I discussed all of this with my boss when I first started my job though, and if it hadn't been possible we would have made it work some other way.

I'm planning to take off the whole week before, since we will need to drive to Illinois to get married, we need an afternoon to get the marriage license, and then I need to get my dress to a cleaners to be steamed ... plus a way to transport everything out there ... then I'm taking the week after off along with that following Tuesday the 18th ... I'll go back to work on the 19th ... I'm taking Oct. 1-18th off ... I get 27 days paid vaca though ... and the last trip and the trip in August I'm taking with no pay ... so yeah ...

I get 3 weeks (accrued) a year and rolled over 3 week (I took no vacations this year to save). So I'm taking off 2 weeks for the wedding, and then 3 weeks for the honeymoon (which is 5 months after the wedding). I'm so happy I decided to save the time off!
