How far out are you sending invites? How far out is your RSVP date?

Megan, on March 8, 2013 at 11:43 PM Posted in Planning 0 35

I'm just curious... I have a ball park in mind for when to send my invites out and when I hope to have received my RSVPs back by but I've been wondering timeline wise what everyone else is doing...

What factors impacted your decision...

EX: I didn't send out Save the Dates and I'm getting married in a popular month, two other friends from college are getting married on that same day and my brother told me he's already received save the date cards for that day too so I'm thinking a little early)

So what's your T minus for invites in the mail? and RSVP date? And why...

My wedding planner told us to set the rsvp date one month before the wedding so it makes it easier for guests to remember and allows enough time to track down guests. She also told us to send out invites 6 to 8 weeks from rsvp date.

Usually RSVP cards are sent out with the invitation at least two months before your wedding date.. Also you send out the StDs at least 5 months prior to your wedding date.. That's how I did it Smiley smile

    Wedding date: 3/3/13

    Save the Date: 08/5/12

    Send out RSVP: 1/2/13

    Response back by 2/3/13

That's how I did it Smiley smile

    Wedding date 7/4/13

    Save the Dates 2/22/13

Invites will be sent around 5/3/13

    RSVP by 6/25/13

I wish I could have got me STDs in the mail earlier, its a holiday so I know people make plans, but I figured that most of the family would be trying to plan things together, so why not all come to my wedding.

Rsvp date is pretty close to the wedding for me because I do not need a final count for anything.

Hi date twin. I plan on sending my invites out the 15th of this month. RSVP due the 20th of next month. We have a good portion coming from OOT. Plus I have a B list.

I'm getting married 6/22/2013, will hopefully be sending out invites by the end of March/beginning of April with a RSVP by the end of May so that I can get a final count. We didn't do Save The Dates

I would figure out when you need to give # to your vendors and then work backwards... I need to give # as soon as 3 weeks before the wedding. I'm adding another 3 weeks to that so I have 2 weeks to get back to people who hasn't RSVP'ed yet and 1 week for stragglers and mailing them back... so wedding date is 9/7/13.. rsvps due by Aug 1st (just because it's easier to remember). Then we're sending the invites about a month before that so beginning of July and if they are out of the country then middle of June...

We sent ours out a little over 3 months (last week) early for our DW. RSVP deadline May 1 because we have to have counts in 1 month before the wedding.

I sent my invites a little early just to give people more time to RSVP (since it seems so difficult for some) and because I was excited to get them out. My timeline:

    Wedding: 4/27/13

    STDs sent: 9/15/12

Invite w/ RSVP card sent: 2/9/13

    RSVPs due: 3/25/13

    Wedding: 7/6/13

STD's: 10/15/12 (wedding is Holiday weekend, and many guests camp and book sites WAY in advance)

    Invites: 5/1/13

RSVP: 6/10/13 (gives me 1 week to track down stragglers and get final numbers to caterer and baker)

I haven't decided all this, I don't need a final count until the day before or so. I just want to say, be careful, when I get invites long before the wedding I am more likely to forget to rsvp since I usually cannot answer right away. If I get the invite closer to the date ill usually send it back right away.

I sent STDs out at 6 months out. Invitations will go out 2 months out, with the RSVPs due a month out. My caterer needs final numbers 14 days prior, so that will give me time to hunt down the stragglers that didn't send theirs in.

They say 6-8 weeks for invites-unless you are having a DW or have a large list of OOT guests (it's hard for people to truly RSVP too far out). The rule of thumb for STDs is 6-9 months.
