How far in advance did you start planning your wedding?

11 months early for simple idea planning etc etc.. 6 months early for actual footwork, when the "real" planning began.

3 years before the actual engagement and then

Immediately after the engagement so about 1 1/2 yrs ahead of date. Started getting quotes and budgeting. Didn't start booking people until abour 8 months ahead because of $

15 months. I started as soon as he proposed, and believe me, we could use another 15 months LOL

We had 17 months to plan, and it comes up on you quick!

We had a year and a half to plan. I could have had it all planned and ready in 3 months but we wouldn't have gotten the venue or the photographer that we really wanted. I love having so much time. Its helping with money and it's helping with sanity. I don't have to plan every week, I don't have to worry if I forget to do something right then and I've been able to spread out payments. SO NICE!

Engaged in Dec 2011- started looking into venues right away and realized we needed to get on it to get a place since they book up and started visiting places in Feb 12. Once we booked our venue, we took it easy and did it bit by bit but just do the things that are most important- we did venue, photographer and dj within a month then relaxed until like 9 months out. some things are just not as urgent.

Agreed ^^^ You have to book venue, photographer and DJ first since they can only be in one place at one time. One they're booked, you can definitely relax.

I'm also a summer of 2015 bride! I haven't done anything more than online research. I'm going home to MI (where the wedding will be) in a few weeks and will check out venues then. Like others said, I'm hoping to get the date and venue before I start to book vendors, and then relax for a bit and enjoy being engaged

About a year. I had my brothers wedding to worry about so couldn't do much until it was over. We've been engaged for almost a year and hald. I booked the venue, got the dress, photographer, videographer, DJ and Officiant done about 8-10 months in advance. If the venue you want is popular I suggest booking as far in advance as possible. I tried to get everything big done by 7 months in advance so that I could take a few months to relax and do the small stuff. Now I'm down to just under a month and feel like I'm still forgetting stuff.

Technically, almost 2 yrs. b/c we had to move our date from 9/13 to 9/14 w/revisions due to our budget. I don't plan to make a move on things until late August. Most of what is done is bascically on-line window shopping & price checking trying to get the best deal. Good luck, welcome to WW & happy planning!

Thank you all...I'm on track then. We have made a list of some venues. My FH is a DJ so most of the venues on our list, he's DJ'd weddings at which helps. He's so much more laid back than I am so he's going to keep me calm lol.

Got engaged in January and jumped right into the planning for our August 2014 wedding. So about 19 months in advance.

Just under two years.

14 months, and to be honest, i would have LOVED a little more time.

He proposed on New Year's this year and we are getting married on July 17,2013... We just started planning like 3 months ago though....

Engaged 01/2012, started planning 05/2012, wedding is 10/11/14....Absolutely LOVE that I have had so long to plan. I was able to really take my time to research things and find the best values. I booked our venue, photographer and DJ this year to make sure pricing was locked in.

As soon as we was engaged which was 9/1/12 got married 5/18/13 so 8 and one half months

8 months. It was fast. Lots of work.
