How far in advance did you start planning your wedding?

My wedding date is Aug 2015 . When my FH set the date I was mad because it was over 2 years away. Now that I'm looking at the cost of things I think we need to get price quotes NOW since we are paying for it.

Immediately... we were engaged 22 months. You don't NEED to have a venue to start. Sure it HELPS, but it's not necessary. I knew what I wanted to have for center pieces, BM dresses, etc. so I started right away. If you plan on DIYing a lot, don't hesitate... There are TONS of things you can do in advance, then you just add details when you get them... I'm SO glad I started when I did. Have time means you can do what you want, how you want, typically within budget too. You have time to research everything and you pretty have all options open. You have time to DIY without being stressed...

We are starting to plan now.. not booking anything but looking at ideas etc (I'm in Western Australia and he is in Memphis TN) to help so that when it does come time to book we are on track as it makes it hard being on other sides of the world. On my next visit in August my partner actually wants to go and check out the recepiton and ceremony venues together and may put deposits down just to secure them as they are quite popular

I got engaged Feb 3rd and my wedding is in 49 days! I can't wait much longer, thats not nearly as long as some of the brides on her but I think where theres a will theres a way so whether you start 3 years or 3 months before it can be done, if you're on a budget then its better to start ASAP so you have time to make payments get your venue, officiant, etc., before they are booked!

We started discussing plans about 6 months ago, and started looking more seriously at venues, vendors, and costs about 3 months ago. We're planning on getting officially engaged in about 3 months (we're going to meet with the jeweler to design my ring this coming week!!), and then it'll be just under 15 months till the wedding. All in all, about 2 years of planning.

We're already starting to save up, but I have enough saved already that we can use my savings to start putting down deposits (and then refill my savings with the wedding money--it's weird).

12 months. I'm from Indiana, and for most people around here, that is a long time. What I have learned is not to make decisions and purchases to far out-I've ended up reprinting my wedding invitations, taking some things back, etc. It is nice to have the time to think and put things together.

As soon as he proposed I was already two months into planning. We had our venue booked a month before the proposal.

14 months prior to our date. Getting quotes now may be a little difficult because prices can always go up over time

I started planning the day we met. No joke. Within a month, the guys he works with called me his wife, and within about 6 months we were living in duffel bags, staying at his country house on the weekends and my city house during the week closer to his work. About a year and a half after we'd been together he proposed, and it will be two years in two weeks!

The sad part is the guys at his work started a pool, betting on our wedding date and the date I'd get pregnant about 4 months after we were together. At least none of them got any of it right, because it's not a shotgun wedding. Lol.

I started planning basically when I got the ring, which was November of 2012. Our wedding is April 2014.
